It's raining Heidelbergs...
When it rains it pours...
Recently picked all 4 of these up to add to my Heidelberg collection (well over 150 variations now from 3 countries). Pic 1: Left to right
a. Didn't have a "super size" version of this European label. I think it is kind of interesting how the font for the word "Heidelberg' is the same as its American counterparts.
b. I had been looking for a quality example of this IRTP version of this label for a long, long time. Had an off grade one already and that was only the third one I ever had seen. Someone paid a LOT for the other two I saw and I came in second on bids for both of those. I went nuclear on my bid this time and ended up getting it for a lot less than my second place bids on the previous two that I had been out bid on. You can see a hundred of this label and you won't see an IRTP variation in any of them. I pictured the two versions of this can together in the last two pics with the IRTP on the right.
c. Had been looking for this one ever since someone posted a pic of it on a thread on the RB and no one had ever seen it. No one. It has the older style "Student Prince" in the circle but a later Heidelberg in red without the dark blue/purple outline on the lettering. Kind of a transition can. I got it for a decent price because it wasn't listed as one of the no blue outline cans and floated under most peoples notice in the flood of Heidelberg wind tunnel cans.
D. I thought I was getting an upgrade with this wind tunnel can but ended up with a different variation. The stein is a different color in the can I thought it was replacing. Love it when that happens.

Nice work above. Always love going "Nuclear" and then coming in under the money.
Were there any variations between the recent Heidelberg OI discovery/find?

Re: It's raining Heidelbergs...
Congrats on the IRTP Alt Heidelberg can. I was watching that and considered the Nuclear option.

Re: It's raining Heidelbergs...
Haven't tasted those waters yet on the OI Heidelbergs ....waiting for the price to drop more...so far the price has dropped from $1000 to $350 and now going for $100 last I saw. With 300 new ones floating around out there I expect even more of a price drop.OhioCanGuy wrote:Nice work above. Always love going "Nuclear" and then coming in under the money.

Re: It's raining Heidelbergs...
Could you post a pic of the two different mugs?
Those are the ones with the metallic gold trim right?
So the wind tunnel metallic gold trim is different than the previous known ones? Or was this a known variation?
I only have several of these left. Local guys gobbled the few I had up.
Thanks

Re: It's raining Heidelbergs...
Ted bought the remaining 205 cans.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alt-Heidelberg- ... 7675.l2557
He is selling the offgrade ones for a fair price, but the nice ones won't be going for cheap anytime soon.
Nice of someone to finally share the details from the find.

Re: It's raining Heidelbergs...
I see that now. The wind tunnel Gold Trim Heidelbergs are a variant with lighter mugs and background behind the prince.
Good knowledge for the few I have left.
