Re: ROSALIE on ebay
Would be number 6 and I own the worst one of the bunch. The red headed stepchild Rosalie number 7. She has more paint on her than a hookers but she is mine and I am one step closer to all the illinois cans. I specialize because I like to see an end game and it is far to expensive to collect just any flat top cans from everywhere. I am.pissed I didn't bid more for the upgrade.

Ahhhh.....don't worry.....if you're looking for some rationalization......an argument can be made that the Rosalie isn't even a Manhattan can.....only state mentioned on the can is Louisiana. There.....that help?ILLINICANS wrote:.... I own the worst one of the bunch. The red headed stepchild Rosalie number 7. Re: ROSALIE on ebay
The Rosalie label I have says brewed and bottled by Manhattan Brewing Company (in additional to the Church Point info). Sorry for the fuzzy picture.
Cheers, Paul King

Re: ROSALIE on ebay
It is a can that has holy grail status even if not the rarest. At the end of the day its about supply and demand The Rosalie should fetch more money that some other more obscure slightly rarer cans.

Re: ROSALIE on ebay
Love the nuclear option. Didn't really have a name for it, but now I do. Sometimes you've just got to lay it all out there! Crazy when you get beat out even with an unreasonably high bid. Guess the other guy went "double nuclear". LOL!!mtracy64 wrote:I agree, and I usually employ a bidding strategy like yours. In a few extreme cases, I've used "the nuclear option" and bid far more than I thought the can was worth. I've won at a fair price twice with this strategy (or lack thereof?), but I was first loser last time I tried it. I've never been so happy to lose, even before acquiring a much nicer example of the can at a fair price a month later.OhioCanGuy wrote:I hate coming in second on Ebay. 4th or 5th, fine. But not 2nd.
I always determine my top dollar, with shipping, then add something to that. I figure at that point if I don't win I was already stretched and the other guy can have it.

Flats, cones & early tabs. Ohio cans, ultra clean cans & shine. East coast cans. Rare rust. And, whatever else catches my eye.

Re: ROSALIE on ebay
"Most of us"? You should do a poll and see if that's anywhere close to accurate. It isn't in my case, in any event, and I can't be the only one.potters66 wrote:Agreed but if you think about what a grade 1 would sell for which would be well into the 5 figures and 90% of us can't afford... most of us can scape together 2,000 if we really want a dumper.goodbet50 wrote:Am I the only one who thinks that $2000 for an obvious dumper is a bad use of money, ultra rare or not?
Is this a bragging rights thing?
