Fehr's XL two piece metal sign
Found this sign at a rummage. Its a two piece sign with screws in the back.
The screws look to fit through the slats of the XL back so that the Bottles face the front and the XL faces the back. Owner told me they would drill holes in the windows to put this through the window.
Dont think I buy that but I cannot see any other way this would be used.
Any thoughts?

That's a great sign!! You don't see much signage with crowntainers displayed.

Re: Fehr's XL two piece metal sign
I like it as well but Cant keep everything. After we do our show and tell locally on Wed night, I will first offer it to one of the local guys in our group.
I am still wondering how it was used. I had one suggestion that it was a door push.
Any other ideas?

Re: Fehr's XL two piece metal sign
Found a picture of an early Fehrs Neon with these pieces. Not sure if the neon was suppose to have these or if it was just added.

That's looks like it's added. Regardless, it's really cool. Thanks for showing it

Re: Fehr's XL two piece metal sign
I agree that it looks like the pieces were added to the neon. Can't imagine the brewery would put it out that way.
This was the only example of this sign that I could find out there.
I think they predate the neon but you can see from the screws and paint that it was that way for a long time.
My best guess so far is a door push. Its the only reason I can think of that they would have it back to back.

Re: Fehr's XL two piece metal sign
So cool! I'm steering away from the door push theory though, the nuts/bolts would protrude from the backside making for a very uncomfortable 'push' with a bare hand. The neon sign looks like it has special supports built into the framework exactly for the XL piece as seen in this pic. Bjorn
