Beer caps

#1

Post by maj2436 »

Does anyone happen to have any cone top beer caps they would like to sell? They don't have to be in perfect condition or even anything too nice, but I'm looking for a few caps for some of my cone tops if I can find any. They are dumper grade cans mostly, so the caps can even be dumper grade too as long as they are readable. Examples of caps I am looking for would be for the low profile grain belt, low profile rainier special export, BB special export, and low profile famous beverwyck beer cans. If anyone does let me know and I may be interested.

I have a few different Blatz caps that would be a match for some of the Blatz cones.

Thanks for the reply, and I would say I'd take one, but that's one of my cones I already have a cap for.

No worries, I'll see if I have a couple of the others on your list...any other cones you need caps for?

Awesome! Thank you for looking to see if you have any others, and I think those are really the only ones I need caps for.

Ron (or anyone else), how does a person know what to look for if they want to get caps/crowns for their cone tops? My BCCA books are still packed up but I do not recall them showing the applicable crowns for a particular can. Is there a book for this or does a person have to find somebody who has a cone top that just happened to have been found in close proximity to the crowns? This would probably be good subject matter for a book but I imagine it would be quite difficult to really figure it all out.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

It's partly a matter of experience of remembering times when you saw a cone or bottle that definitely still had the original cap on/with it, and partly a matter of knowing the ages of the bottle, can and cap so that you can match the correct age of the items.

Those are nice caps Ron! :smt023
I already have those particular rainier caps for two of my rainier cans though, it is the white Rainier Special Export can that I don't have a cap to. However, that beverwyck would be a match, but I don't have that version of the can! Such a dilemma, lol. Thank you very much for looking through your caps and sending me a picture of them though, I really appreciate it.

Hey Marcus, not a problem, I'll keep them in mind and hopefully will find the right ones sooner or later. Ron

A lot of times I actually see cans on eBay with original caps or google the cans with original caps and then remember what cap goes to which can. Ron is right though, it just depends on experience and seeing cans with the original cap.
