Post Cascade Octobeerfest show
This past Saturday was our local show. The hall was pretty full, not many walkins - probably due to the unseasonable nice weather we were having that day. Since it is the responsibility of the hosting chapter to design the commerative can, I put out an idea sheet with pens and past examples of canV cans.
It generated some ideas - our committee will be meeting regulary to get the can in prodction in Decmeber.
Here is what I picked up: The cans are nice upgrades, the Lucky qt was a new one (might clean up a bit after a soak). This is the tougher variation.
The score was the bald Rainier Brewer tap knob - it will go nicely with my other Rainier / Sicks / 66 tap handles.

Re: Post Cascade Octobeerfest show
That's a nice Rainier Krausen can and I like the Sicks' tap handle.
We need Mr Travis to whip up a few killer designs for the PDX CANvention can. Think mountains, roses, rivers, hippies, micros, and Subaru's :)

Re: Post Cascade Octobeerfest show
Hard to find the Krausen that clean.
Can't wait for the Portland Canvention....It will be my first BCCA national canvention and the first time I will have brought anything to sell to a meet. Planning on bringing everything I have collected over the last 35 years of collecting that is not a can (signs, taps, barrels, trays, crowns, labels, bottles, boxes/crates, foam scrapers, bottles, labels, backbar items, etc. ...you name it) and ALL of my non-northwest cans from my shelves and Northwest duplicates. (several thousand cans in total) Probably will need a Uhaul. Downsizing the breweriania collection to just Pacific Northwest cans and it seems like a great time to have a clearance sale. Think about bringing your hard to get Northwest cans to the Portland Canvention, the trading/buying on my end may be fast and furious.
Just got the call to arms email from the Cascade Chapter asking for volunteers to organize the Portland Canvention and volunteered in a couple of areas I thought I could assist with.
Be prepared for the best microbrewed beer you have tasted in your life. Be prepared for the sheer number of beer choices available in Portland and the surrounding area. Be prepared for food choices that are world class. 30 minutes out of Portland are some of the finest wineries in the world. 1 hour out of Portland is one of the largest hop growing regions in the world. The Beach and ski resorts are 1 hour out. Fishing for Salmon and Steelhead can be done from Portland's waterfront park. The Columbia River Gorge and Mt. St. Helen's are definitely worth the 1 hour drive from Portland. Be prepared to thoroughly enjoy Portland's weirdness and the Cascade Chapter's hospitality.
Can't wait. Should be EPIC.

Re: Post Cascade Octobeerfest show
Many of us Rainier Chapter folks from the Seattle area are volunteering as well. Our region will put together a great event.
Hey Eric, we need to get you to a Rainier Chapter show sometime. Next up is October 3rd.

I myself can hardly wait to come out to Portland and see you all.
I love micro stuff ( labels, coasters etc. ) I am hoping to add a lot more to my collection
Had a super fantastic time in Milwaukee this year but next year the year of the micros!
See you all there!

No offense intended but "epic" was used to describe Milwaukee about a zillion times. We need to pull out a thesaurus and come up with something equally good for Portland.jinsequa wrote:Can't wait. Should be EPIC.

Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Badly routed. Can't seem to replace Mariota and Chip Kelly. As a Duck Alumni, the Utah game was quite painful. Haven't been out of the polls in quite a few years....feels weird and I don't like it.

Re: Post Cascade Octobeerfest show
Portland Canvention will be fun. It certainly wont break any attendance records since most collectors live back east, but the Cascade & Rainier Chapters are old, established chapters that have a great collector/walk-in base, and always have great shows and killer stuff shows up all the time. I'm sure the 49er & A-1 Chapters will be there in full force as well. I'm hoping to have all my digging done well before the show and squirraling cans away now.
