it IS insane! And we are only seeing a fraction of the cans that are changing hands.

Here are a few pics of the Shape of Quarts to Come.

Well, insanity is relative like everything else. A good portion of that CA display is at a completely different level than the stuff the rest of us are fiddling with.

Steve - you were so good at sticking to small stuff last weekend, and now this? I'm trying to add one more also . . .

I know, I know. But sometimes it dawns on you, and you think "What am I looking at?" - I realized I had coveted this can since the day I saw it arrive at Farrell's, and there it sat, waiting surely to be claimed by someone else - the price is right, condition is there, I love the can, I used to have a 1 minus example, and on and on, plus where am I going to get another one? Wait another 8-10 years to see if this one comes around again? Gene allowed me to pay over time, so it becomes an "I gotta do it" scenario.

Steve,

I had to needle you about it, but I completely understand. Like I said, I'm going for another one myself, and I failed at sticking to little stuff last week.

Oh I'm certainly taking the needling in the spirit intended - I'm even needling myself! I'm just so tickled to be putting these great cans into my collection.
Plus, Gene (and Mike too) bought cans from me at different points when I really needed the money, so it's great to send money back the other way.
I will be sad when the shopping is no longer available at Gene's. I want there always to be a beer can store with the best stuff only a half hour's drive away!

It is not on the 'do not sell' row. Most cans pictured are available. It will not be cheap, he made a pretty robust offer to me for the set of three R&H cans when he acquired them.

I notice also that you list a Better Foods and Hollywood Ranch on your want list. Both cans are there and are a bit off grade, so may be in an affordable range?

I saw no Niborg. If you look back over the shelf pictures I posted, I think you will see the majority of the better flat tops on display. If he had a Niborg it would certainly be on those shelves...

And here are a few more tasty morsels that caught my eye. Keep in mind Gene is keeping his bock cans. Other cans may be potentially for sale ?
There may be one or two of these that are keepers, but if you seriously want one it doesn't hurt to ask.

It's an endless stream of "once in a lifetime cans"! Gene has an amazing collection. I would love to see it in person one day. My 60-70 cans are a ridiculous excuse of a collection in comparison. Seeing all those cans just renews my passion for the hobby. Congrats to everyone that was able to check a can off their most wanted list.

Yes, it's amazing.
As my friend Mr. Synko said, "One thing to remember is that this "smorgasbord" has made it seem like these cans aren't
as rare in top shape with so many corralled together. But it took many deep pocketed collectors years to assemble the best
of the best…as is now represented in Gene's collection."

I'm thinking about the number of Stark cans present, plus Grenke, plus MCoy, plus Skalla, plus Wally Gilbert, and a number of cans that
have come to light recently that Gene acquired, plus all the cans that Farrell flushed out of the bushes. My friend Mark who visited
yesterday pulled out an Oertels can for like 20 bucks that was an unseen unknown variation. Many of the crazy variations are there
due to Farrell's appetite for detail.

You can get stunned by trying to take it all in, and you have to remind yourself to focus on what it is you're actually seeing. It is really easy to dismiss something you will later wish you had noticed.

Residing in Oregon, my personal access was limited and had to be accomplished via email, but here is my meager take ("so far?"). Even though I mainly collect Oregon-Washington cans I had to get the Olde English cone to say that I completed every Olde English in the USBC books (plus a lot of unlisted variations as well)! The Sick's is my first Olive Drab can on my shelves. This is why I joined the Rusty Bunch....to get access to rare cans I have only seen in the books before. Thank you to Gene and Beer Cans Plus for making it happen.
Truly tickled to get these two. Don't tell my wife.

Yes, there was something odd about a band of color near the seam, but I don't recall it specifically. I think it was headed to Tom Peterson's? Tom or Mark could tell you about it, or maybe post a pic. I don't know if it was rare or not, honestly, I would not have given it a second look, but it seemed to be a stumper for those guys.

Now THAT'S the way you're supposed to handle a beer can (holding it by the rims and not touching the label).
