Just having a little fun Eric. The only can of the bunch that's mine is the Maier's Ale. Pretty damn tickled with it though!
The other ones did go home with another collector here in Indiana.

Imagine the greatest Canvention you have ever attended. Imagine an inventory of cans comprised of virtually every can one may dream of. Then imagine that you are one of say 4 or 5 people in attendance that particular day. You have all the time you need to browse, take notes, and crunch numbers with no feeding frenzies or sense of competition. You can create a stack of cans, mull it over, replace a few, etc., until you have what you want and can hopefully afford. You then go strike a deal with one of the nicest guys in the hobby.

This was my second visit and it was like living a collector's dream. Thanks Gene.

It's like you took the entire USBC book (and then some) and made it real. All at once, in one place.

Awesome.

I really like the Old St. Louis Ale can. I am assuming that is a can that is rarely found in any condition.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

I don't really know. I know a collector flew in today from Minnesota. You would have to ask Gene.

To my knowledge it's the only good one. And it's better than all of the Beers I've seen.

Really cool how there are cans displayed on the garage door. That's how I'm making my setup look like, but with dumpers and bottles.

I know I'm supposed to be excited at all the cans flooding back into the hobby, but a sizable chunk of me is heartsick at all the gaps on those shelves. I was SO looking forward to another visit up there this fall. Maybe that will still happen, but it will be a very different experience.

Nevertheless, congrats to all on some marvelous pick-ups, and it sounds like the haggling was top-notch and friendly for all. That's invaluable, and wonderful.

Congrats on the steamboat Ale Steve.

Us St. Louisan's were trying to figure a way to bring that can back to it's hometown but couldn't make it happen.

Dan H,
It's not mine! But it did stay in Indiana. I posted the pic for fun. It was just ridiculous to have those cans briefly in my kitchen! The Maier's Ale is my can in the group.

Not sure why he chose now to sell some cans - he's keeping a lot, Indiana cans, Bock cans, select uber-scarce cones and flats, quart cones etc... not sure what else... oh, micros he's still going to collect

New England Ale, yellow shoreline. Stop me before I spend again!
I was second in line when Gene acquired this can a few years back. I have always wanted a first rate example of this can, or more particularly this can.
I can finally see that a dent has been made in Gene's collection. Too many great cans have changed hands. It is still an amazing group of cans, especially for us mere mortals, but a little bit of the wow factor has dissipated - an inevitable occurrence…

I saw Tom from KC shopping today, along with Mr. Boyles, Mr. Synko, and a couple of Ohio collectors. I don't know what anyone left with but piles of cans were being amassed.

I'm one of the Ohio collectors that was there yesterday. Spent about five hours looking at cans. How do I know that? Because my wife kept reminding me the entire 3.5 hour drive home). I'm absolutely certain I didn't even come close to seeing everything. There's just that much. Open totes stacked three deep, cans literally everywhere, plus his extensive soda can collection. Really, really amazing. Anyone going to Canvention will be in for a treat as I have no doubt there will still be tons available.

Make sure your wife realizes that in that 5 hour period, you accomplished more than 10 years of looking at cans would even come close to. So, when she mentions the 5 hours again, be sure to remind her that you were doing it for her, and that you saved her over a decade of future beer can oogling.

I can't stay away! Back to Gene's with Mr. McCoy and Mr. Tracy. About 10 visitors present, some repeats. I met illinicans there, and saw Rodney again, as well as Synko. (Synko's been there more than me) Totes were loaded, wish lists checked off, more cans going out the door…
I managed to limit myself for the most part. I did bring home the all-red Rheingold flat. I had an example once before and was sorry I sold it-a bit of a sleeper-another "assuaging of regret" purchase.

The cans that remain are still just incredible. Some more pics to peruse…

Was happy to place an order for a can we've never seen in decent shape. Tom was fantastic to work with throughout the whole process. Super nice guy! We even won another can tonight on ebay. Been a good weekend! We haven't added a can to the collection in years, no less two!
