BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
Hey Guys, I just got an email from a buddy telling me to book my room for Milwaukee NOW, as they only have 20 rooms with double beds left!!! How can this be, as the information hasn't even come out in the magazine yet??!! I know they will get a couple of over flow hotels but this kind of sucks. I just called and made my reservation. I heard the first Milwaukee Canvention had something like 5 hotels!
All that being said , this show will be epic and one for the ages !

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
Sounds like it should be held in Milwaukee every year. Or the international organization has been promoting the hell out their convention and the rooms are being snapped up by those guys? The BCCA a few dozen steeps behind??? Perhaps???

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
I've heard something from Dave G. that indicates that rooms are relased into the BCCA block on sort of a "rolling" basis. As the block fills up, more rooms are released or something like that.
In any event, reserving a room quickly is always a goog idea.

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
I just called and got my room reserved for 4 nights, Wed-Sun...the gal I talked with said she had about 20 calls today for the canvention and that there were only a couple dozen rooms remaining so if you plan to go, call ASAP. She also said parking was $25 (the hotel has their own parking garage next door) and they are about a 15 minute drive from the airport.

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
What little I have heard:
1.) Folks have had problems most when trying to book a room with two doubles on the Sunday (8/30) & Monday (8/31) before CANvention. The hotel might have some event the weekend before CANvention that has a high demand for that room type. SO... if you ask for a room with two double beds starting then you might run into some trouble.
2.) As mentioned above, the Hilton seems to "release" rooms to our block episodically so the number that shows up on the reservation agent's screen may not be the real number that will eventually be available.
3.) YES the "International Guys", which I am also a part of, is trying to promote the show and many of the folks flying in from out of country make their flight reservations early - some will have to apply for a Visa months in advance, and since the hotel reservation doesn't cost anything to make now, they go ahead and do that too since they already shelled out for the plane ticket. For instance Kieth and many of the Kangaroos from the land of OZ have booked. There are about 250 on the facebook page so far (search for 2nd BCWC). I would not be surprised if over half on the facebook page are like me - BCCA folks who are also interested in International collecting. However, with 51 clubs and three more to join in Milwaukee - the BCWC has got a LOT of members connected to it and even if only on average 4 come from each club, that is over 200 more coming to CANvention than what would be "normal" for a great location like Milwaukee. Think Fort Wayne and what happened when we ended up in three hotels if you added 200 more? The Hilton is really big, and we should fit... but the 1st BCWC sold out (over 600) in the city of Martin Slovakia and EVERY room was booked...
4.) START MAKING PLANS NOW - it is going to be a great show!
5.) I have tried to use the http://www.OCOCsite.info" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (click on the bcwc page link on the right to see what has been posted so far) as place you can see some of the info about CANvention 45 and the 2nd BCWC. For instance there is some details on an excursion that the Badger Bunch & the Packer Chapter are setting up a tailgate and baseball game for Tuesday night... Brewers playing in Miller Park against the Pirates... pretty beery!
6.) If after trying to make reservations you have some problem you can't get resolved, contact Beer Dave - he is the focal point for dealings with the Hotel and is a magician in getting things worked out if given enough time. DO NOT CALL him on August 30th and wonder why he can't get you a room.
RUN ... don't walk ... and make the call to the Hilton!

Mabel another, I was quoted 119 plus 15% taxes, I didn't ask about parking, and that info was not volunteered! I have been to several canventions, and this one sounds like a once in a lifetime event!
Seamonkey, had to lol about this being your first canvention, considering your first show was blue/gray!!!!!

Well I guess you have to pay to play.
After the $66 hotel at Cabin Fever or even the upcoming $92 rate for Title Town Hyatt it was sticker shock at the Hilton.
It will be my summer vacation with you beer buds so I will just sally up.
So much for buying that "farmer'

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
I also was quoted $119 per night plus that tax rate. I was not given the parking info either. It does seem about what the canvention rooms cost on a regular basis, so no real surprise there. I think that if you are trying to compare a hotel cost for a smaller show vs a convention, that is where there might be some sticker shock. But this will be different than any other show. Sea monkey, you are in for an experience.

It would be interesting to know the total number of rooms sold at this point, rather than the varying accounts of how many rooms are left.
Maybe someone who cares more than me could ask that question and report back?

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
As the hotel liaison for the IBC Show I can, at any time, talk to my rep at the hotel and request an updated reservation list showing all of the
people who reserved rooms, and on what nights they reserved rooms. This is quite common practice and something that virtually all event
hosting hotels do. The Wyndham hotel emails me the list, then I share it with chapter members. That way we all know what the numbers are
looking like, and how many guests we might expect. This is otherwise known as 'reality'. It truly is preferable to operating in a fog of speculation
and hearsay, and surely paints a clearer picture than quilting together anecdotal tidbits.
Perhaps one of our BCCA board members has the wherewithal to request said information from the host hotel?

Re: BCCA MILWAUKEE CANVENTION ROOMS SELLING OUT FAST!
$119 base + 18 taxes + 25 parking = $162 per night. Glad those are the "cheap" after labor day rates, versus the pre-labor day rates which would probably have been something like $175 per night, and cost prohibitive for most to attend. For some reason I think the whole "must be after labor day due to cost a bunch of B.S."
