Since the Phoenix is a prewar Bulb Top & Bulb tops were made approximately 1940-41 I would guess good chance the 41 is the date. LEON.

Very cool Cremo box Roy! Gotta love boxes that had rare labels in them. This one is a label I've never seen...

Leon may have seen more cone than boxes but, I have not. I have seen at least 10-15 of those boxes going back to 1988, when I joined the club.

Here's a Falls City box I got from Rand in a trade. Marked IRTP and has a war bonds seal on the bottom.
I'd say cardboard pieces are rare in numbers as they don't hold up as well as cans or bottles over time.

I'm not so sure. Many of those long neck case boxes are heavy and sturdy. People recognized long ago how handy they were and have been storing stuff in them ever since. I don't know how many times I have been at a garage sale or in a friend or relative's garage and seen a beer box used for storage.

The bottles or cans they were designed to carry have long since been thrown away, but the boxes survive in much higher numbers.

Not a very good picture but Woody could post a better one. This one once held the All-Malt Quart Cones.
It came from Woody's find years ago and came to visit me for many years until I sold off some Croft stuff so it went back home.
