Editing Offerings

#1

Post by MI-Cans »

I don’t do eBay. I don’t do auctions. I’m able to attend a few local shows and my only other resources are the Advertise section of the RB site and the Advertisers on the RB site. I’ve managed to get some nice cans for my collection from the RB family, mostly stuff I don’t see at local shows.

One thing that frustrates me is that a seller doesn’t edit the picture(s) as cans are claimed. I’m not saying everybody. It’s just that, some do and some don’t. If it’s not too much to ask, could the sellers consider somehow marking up their offerings to indicate which items are already claimed? Simple enough to do. I’ve made some examples here using Microsoft Paint. I'm sorry if it's an unreasonable request or suggestion.

Good suggestion. The better a seller conveys what is for sale, the better the odds of making a sale.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

I like the "blanked out" look. That way I don't fret over cans I missed out on. Great suggestion!

I've been testing out a system where I can PM people before they actually post. It's coming along.

Jim must be testing out something similar because the can I got from him arrived in my mailbox before I PM'ed him before he posted.

Hello Scott,

One easy way is open your picture in Microsoft "Paint". This comes with all Windows systems, usually under Accessories

Use the "Select" feature which is usually there by default. If not, this is the "dotted" rectangle with the word Select. Simply draw a box around the can(s) that have been sold and hit "Delete". Save the picture, edit your RB post to upload new version of the picture.

And if that doesn't work have Ron do it...

I appreciate the post-related comments.

I agree with the remorse feeling when you realize you've missed out on a can you might be looking for. Then again, the same feeling of remorse also comes along when they PM you back saying the can has already been claimed.

Editing the offerings was just a thought. Some will do it, some won't.

Edski,

It is a good idea, and many will take it to heart.

Maybe a tutorial for the less computer savvy would be appropriate.

Thanks for the comments, Jim

Randy's instructions to SeaMonkey were spot on. Only thing that might enhance it would be pictures. That always seemed to help in my experience. I'll work on that and see what I can come up with.

Ok, Here goes nothin'. This is using Windows' newer Paint software. I have access to both and use them both. Obviously, click to enlarge.
