Re: Favorites
Sticking with the original parameters of the thread, I have pictured today's favorites, which of course change sometimes daily. Since I did have a little extra room on the shelf, I added the 16 oz and quart category.

Nice can's everyone, SoCal, I really like your Better Food's can. Maybe a dumb question, but is that harder to come by than the Clipper Pale? Seems to me I've seen more of those than the Better Food's can, and which is a harder can to acquire, the Better Food's, or Hollywood Ranch Market, in your opinion ?

A Better Foods Market is 1000x harder than a Clipper Pale. Clipper Pales are NOT rare. There are hundreds of dumpers out there and at least a dozen nice indoor cans - and you can find these on ebay if you look and are patient. And yes, its even harder than a Hollywood Ranch Market. I dont think I ever seen a Better Foods on ebay.

Re: Favorites
I don't have any small cans so added an extra cone in place of a small can. And I cheated a little on the zip/tab category. The Narragansett Ale was rolled as a zip, but is from 1968 so should probably have been a tab; wasn't sure which category to put it into.
Always looking for
Also: Ruppert, pre-Pro New England trays, New England cones and quarts.

Re: Favorites
Straight steel, rolled test can. Sort of a pale bile yellow enamel background instead of the usual gold or tan. I think the lighting in the photo makes it look greener than it actually is. Here's a pic of that can and the regular can using natural lighting. Another difference is that the line beneath "Pilsner" is silver on the test can and it's gold on the regular issue.oldmoneytexan wrote:Dave,

Re: Favorites
This thread makes me feel like I'm an art collector. Seriously, some of these pics put most of the stuff hanging in art galleries to shame. Same goes for sculptures, folk art, etcetera.
I love this hobby and am grateful to be back in it after such a long hiatus. RB is the exact right place for a misfit like me, too.
So for future reference, I'm no longer a "beer can collector", I'm a purveyor of fine objects d'art whom collects exquisite examples of a refined, albeit non-mainstream niche. I tip my camo top-hat to my fellow enthusiasts

Re: Favorites
I must apologize to Mr. Lijewski.......when I read the instructions to post pictures of your favorite type.....I did, and posted pictures of all OI cans.....as they are my favorite type. I now see that the instruction intended us to post pictures of one can each of different types.....sorry again! In keeping with the spirit of the post, I philosophically retract my previous submission, and humbly offer this lot. While they are still all technically OI cans, from right to left they are also....."cone" top/snap cap......quart....odd dimension 12-oz.....boring standard 12oz OI......11oz ......and an 8oz.
I hope this penance will be viewed favorably by the powers that be and that my petition for forgiveness will be afforded a kind and lenient sentence.
Rand :-)
