I have not had a chance at this particular Clipper but had heard they used a ships image from a nearby bank sign and had to remove it from their label? That story was not confirmed by the Art Director from 1979 to 2014 at Miller, he had the cans. Ziphippie

I have not seen the birchbark version of that. I used to drink Leinie Red religiously when it was on the market. It competed with Killians back when "reds" were the thing. I have not seen that version. Very cool.

Re: Leinie’s Red aluminum pilot + others
Thanks Kams! I don’t remember the birch bark canoe label on a can. Bottle maybe, no can. I drank alot of Red! Drove semi for a distributor that kept Killian’s cold (right next to the Coors!) while the “good” beers sat in a warehouse. Outdated Killian’s was ultra-cheap and plentiful, that fueled my taste for Reds’! When I left I switched to Leinie’s and never looked back. Drank a lot of Dry beer as well, but Milwaukee’s Best was a no-no. This one is a vinyl label made for top brass inspection at the brewery, according to the seller. Ziphippie

I was disappointed when Leinie's "sundowned" the Red Lager and started brewing the Red Ale off sight. Chippewa Falls only brews lagers so the contracted the Red Ale out to someone in Milwaukee.
