Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Anybody that works that amount of overtime should reward himself with a treasure- terrific can that found the right home! Kudos

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Incredible can....graphics, rarity, condition.
I did a little thread mining and yours looks to be the example at the top of the stack.....and the best condition of the 5.
Added a pic of bottle for comparison.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Guys,
Thanks for the kind words, and for doing my homework for me. The overtime just won't go away; I put in 79 hours this week.
I guess the Bock I couldn't remember was the worst of the five, and I'm obviously really pleased to have the best of the five.
Marc

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
That much overtime is not healthy even for young people. I hope it eases back soon. What do you do that is so busy right now?
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I am a Metrology Engineer at FCA. Much of this week's overtime was more about helping colleagues in distress during a vehicle launch than pleasing management or making money. The guys would do it for me if the tables were turned. The overtime from the previous couple months was much more relaxed; it's an innovation project that is very interesting and we'll pick that up again next month. The overtime is optional, and I'm going to dial it down for a few weeks now. Thanks for your comments.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
A couple more outstanding California cans found in my mailbox today. These 2 would be tough to dig in Maine. Anything would be tough to dig in Maine right now, 5 major snowstorms in 9 days. We are snowbound and 10-15 inches coming tonite. Steve

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I added this one last week also, the apparently short-lived white Old Milwaukee IRTP.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Many of you know me as a J-Spout collector. I was originally a collector of IRTP cans. I decided to get out of cones altogether, but when push came to shove, I simply couldn't part with the J-Spouts. They became a side interest that snowballed into my primary focus. I sold most of my flattops to pursue the rarer J-Spouts. The financial crisis of 2008 caused me to sell off a number of the J-Spouts. I kept attending shows, but added almost nothing new for five years. When I did start buying again, I wanted very much to get back into older flattops as I rebuilt the J-Spout collection. I started pursuing the odd little groups of cans I was chasing before I started letting my flattops go: IRTP Crown Can Co. cans, pre-war National Can Co. cans, pre-war Continental Can Co. cans (an excuse to collect Old Dutch and Old Milwakee), and American Can Co. cans with 'Patent Pending' or with the full length opener. I also decided to add IRTP Bocks and the occasional can that I just happen to like a lot (think Pilgrim Ale, Goldenrod Ale, etc.). A particular interest is the group of cans shown in the January, 1936 Fortune magazine article 'Beer Into Cans' . . . The Phalanx of Gay Armored Cans. I added one of those Wednesday. It's from the sizeable 1990's find of lid less cans, and I am very happy to find one that has not been re-lidded.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I'm missing ten of the flats in that photo, though the condition is horrible on my Red Tops. I'm missing some relatively easy ones too, such as Feigenspan, Tru Blu and Fort Pitt. I've been eyeballing an ongrade Ox Head for a couple months and nearly pulled the trigger the same night I found the Jacob Ruppert Bock OI.Leon wrote:How many more do you need from that ad? LEON.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
This seldom seen zip from Grace Bros. showed up in the mail yesterday compliments of Uncle roy. It probably should have arrived last week but may have been routed through the Oroville post office on its way between San Diego and Portland.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Just got this upgrade in the mail on Wednesday. It's not perfect, but it is beautiful compared to my downgrade black print Buckeye flat top.
