Wow Eric - the one on the right is cool! Would love to see that in a 16oz!

Added a couple National Premium crowntainers to the collection, but only counting 1. As you can see from the picture the two on the left, the one on the left is going in the collection, are the standard two colors of this can. I went ahead and purchased, what was said to be a "washed" colored can, the sky blue can on the right, in the Beer Cans Plus auction. It is in excellent condition. Still has the original shine of a new crowntainer. I am about 99% sure it is not faded. It appears to have been manufactured this was. So, to that end, based on what I know, and don't know, a mistake can. That said, They sure look nice all together. I would appreciate comments on these cans in general, and absolutely if you have any information on the can on the right.

Very nice. I have the pair but yours definitely look nicer.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

I was finally able to get super clean examples of these seldom seen Schmidt's flats. Short label by Schmidt's Brewing and silver outlined Schmidt's by E&B Brewing.

Nice pickup, and an interesting pair. The J-Spout apparently doesn't exist in high grade. It isn't rare as a dumper, but few display real well and most of those that do are completely shot on the back. The HP is a much tougher can overall, but is known in high grade. I wonder what prompted Honers to change can styles so quickly. . . Honer was founded in 1939 and both cans are pre-war.

My speculation is Honer’s management didn’t want to move to Crowntainers and opted to stick with the more familiar Conetop can when the J Spout was discontinued.
It is surprising there are not better examples of the J Spout available. The book can (your can) is by far the best example and so far from what I’ve seen mine may be 2nd BKE (best know example) although I’m sure others are out there.
Included some pictures of the brewery and Silver Foam bottle who owned the brewery before Honers took over.
Sorry for thread hijack!

Mine displays better than it looks in the book, but it's got some very distracting flaws on the face. It took me three days to decide to buy it after Alex put it up for sale. I'd imagine Dr. Kevin has one that ranks pretty high, and Alex, Chuck and Randy probably have a better handle on what's out there than I do.

I'm not sure that J-Spouts were discontinued before the war. Several new ones were introduced in 1940, and it's likely that the Bruck's Jubilee came out in 1941 . . . it says "85 years . . ." and "Since 1856" on it. But, who knows? Perhaps Crown Can Co. started booting smaller breweries once the Crowntainer changed their fortunes.

I only saw this variation was out there thanks to the collectors like me populating the USBC website with new cans not pictured prior - highly encourage the sharing of this knowledge as good for all of us!

the zip on the left I have had for years - 1 City

the new can I got this week - 8 city version of can with a CCC early ring pull

Happy week!

Found a few articles on Honer Brewery when they shut down in 1942 and another when they started up again in 1946.
Definitely a small outfit...looks like they averaged 15 to 25 thousand barrels a year.
Tried to add a new article - Looks like they tore down the old brewery in 1967

My previous example of this can was an embarrassment. It's a tough enough variation that I figured I'd better buy $10 worth of it when I had the chance, but I never guessed that it would take seven years to upgrade.

This was listed on eBay as a Buy It Now. I don't recall the original price, but it was $600 or more. It dropped to $400 after a couple months or so, and I figured I'd pull the trigger if the price dropped again. The seller decided to auction it instead, and that worked out nicely for me.

Morean Auction winnings. I've got 11 Tru Blu cans now, and five were Gene's including this one. The ding bottom face is from the opener. I don't know provenance on the Cremo Ale, but it wasn't Gene's (that's why I'm posting here instead of the Gene thread). I've wanted a clean one for years, and I finally got one at my price.

All 29 cans I was able to acquire during Dan's Quarantine shows have finally arrived. Some took an unusually long time. But they're here and it's all good. I know they don't compare with some of the other postings but it's for my Variety niche and I'm very happy with them. I appreciate the people I dealt with for their patience.

Not exactly rare or even in perfect shape but all found in a crawl space in the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit with the 6 packer. All cans have the number "4503" ink stamped on the bottom.....
$15 for all from a virtual garage sale FB site.

As a rule, I don't collect Crowntainers. Nothing against them, just have to draw the line somewhere. That said, I have managed to save a few here and there.

For the past six weeks plus, I've been in a drought of sorts as to getting my fix by acquiring new cans. Been outbid consistently on dealer auctions and ebay. Of course, no shows.

So, this Iroquois popped up on ebay. Very cool Indian graphics and colors on this one. I threw in a reasonable bid and won it for enough under my high number to make me smile. Again, I don't collect Crowntainers. ;)

I got these in the mail this week. The PBR is Newark. Most excited about getting my first Blatz Christmas can and I gotta say it's pretty damn cool, I can see why these are so popular. Thanks to canscards for the Schmidt zips.

After collecting for 44 years It is rare that I run across an Atlantic piece that I don't have and have never even seen before. There are some that I do not own but I at least have pictures of most of them. I picked up this piece in north Georgia last week with the help of a fellow RB member (Thanks again!). It is a 14' X 19" cardboard trolley/bus sign from 1939. Atlantic ran a series of ads that quoted one "word" & had an image to go with it. The print ads also had text explanation. There were 10-15 different ones and apparently 10-15 matching cardboard signs too. This is the 4th one I have found thus far. It is rough, damaged, & dirty, but beautiful to me.

Collector of Atlantic Co. (Old South, Atlantic, Steinerbru, and Signal Beer) and all pre-pro Georgia (Atlanta, Augusta, Macon, & Savannah) breweriana. Carling Atlanta too!
