New Acquisition Wednesday

#1

Post by sgramling »

I thought it would be fun to have a thread to just share new stuff - once a week or once in awhile - for no other reason than we all like to share and see what everyone else managed to grab.

Schoenlings has some messy touchup and the Monogram is rough but they're probably as good for these labels as I'm gonna get anytime soon.
And, of course, my new favorite Kool.
Anyone else wanna share something recently acquired? Please show. I know there's always some jaw dropping new stuff around.

I always thought that Manhattan can is one of the nicest looking cans in the entire hobby. I know you have ones in there that are much tougher but my eyes went right to the Manhattan. Nice pickups! Congrats.

Great idea!

These are my "take" from the RB Halloween deelio. I have another small lot on the way that I'll post when they arrive. These represent a few are major upgrades (more or less) and the rest are just because I like them. I've finally settled on my collection-direction which boils down to price and what's ascetically pleasing to me. True shine is out of my reach, and rust/scratches/age/etcetera are right at home on my shelves anway.

As much as I've been buying lately I'd need a daily update. You've added some great cans.

After not picking up anything from the Indy Show a few weeks ago and being beside myself seeing several affordable cans get snatched up, I was able to procure this from one of our members (who incidentally picked it up at Indy). This Louisville version has always been a favorite of mine. Someone else had 2 more at the Indy show (one in stellar condition - not for sale, and another in great shape but yellowed...and out of my price range.)

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

I actually haven't been as active in cans as I have in the past years but these are my two newest additions.

Just picked up this large double sided Narragansett sign this weekend. Melanie and I had to drive about a total of 650 miles round trip to pick it up in Georgia. I am super excited to receive it. A guy told the seller (after I already bought it) that it was 1 of 4 signs that hung outside the brewery in RI. The guy said he knew it to be the case because he owned the other 3! Not sure if that is true or not...........

Nice can. I have two Frankenmuth cones that I want to upgrade someday. Each of them have been around the block a few too many times.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Among the many items I picked up recently, were these salesman samples of some punch boards with Schlitz cone tops on them.

Wow-some amazing stuff here, fellas! Good idea for a thread.

Tim...is that a chalkware piece?

This is a sign I've always considered to be a personal "holy grail" sign for illustration/imagery and just being cool and colorful.
I've had one other chance to get an offgrade one, but when this was unwrapped during dealer set-up at Guzzle, I thought
for a minute, then bought it. Its 25 x 30 and made of tin.

I got four cans in the mail today. The Alpine on the left was my shelf can and the one on the right arrived today. A real nice upgrade at a real nice price. The Sebewaing and Grain Belt were upgrades too. Only the Esslinger is new to me. I bet the old Alpine would clean up some but I still have not got around to getting some acid.

I have that sign but not the can stock on the back. Mine is printed on pretty flimsy tin. I assume yours would be a little more rigid. VERY COOL!

The Ranier OI is a "Rand-Me-Down" that I am very happy with considering the sad condition of my previous example. I was most happy to get the SS Gannsett Ale to replace the Alum on my shelf. I didn't think they were that tough but it's taken me awhile to find one. Also added 2 Grace cans I didn't previously have.
I - KNOW - there are impressive updates that we'd all love to see!

Crazy thing about this one is it's not a Leyse. Same size and same style, but at the bottom front of the sign it says, "H.W. Singleton Co., Salt Lake City, Utah." I guess it's a Leyse knock off...never seen another sign from this maker before.
