Hey Ray,

Yep I got the Golden Age from you. I was able to upgrade it but I put your can in a box and forgot about it. I ran across it last summer and it is now in my totes to move along.

I acquired 11 of your pictured book cans (10 directly from you and 1 from CMD when he sold his LP's). I have only been able to upgrade 4 of the 11 cans. There were some great labels I got from you.

Thanks!

Jim

Two paint over projects I finally completed. The Pepsi on the right was under a Black Label and was one I needed to fill out the 3 variations of the label. All 3 are from Colorado distributors, so they go into my Colorado collection!

The cone had the top 2/3rds removed with rubbing compound as evidenced by the burn through in a few places. Done by someone years ago. The can might have been used for a fishing bobber. Thick layer of primer with a thicker layer of yellow paint. Since it was a homemade paint job, I used acetone to remove the bottom 1/3. No burn through!

Nothing uncommon here but these cans have eluded me for whatever reason so really happy to finally get them. Love the gold trim on both these, these Grain Belts are one of the great can designs of all the prewar cones in my opinion, awesome color combination with the black and metallic red/gold, simple yet still stunning. Rainier is one of the 3.2% Colorado can find.

Schoenlings has some messy touchup and the Monogram is rough but they're probably as good for these labels as I'm gonna get anytime soon.
And, of course, my new favorite Kool.
Anyone else wanna share something recently acquired? Please show. I know there's always some jaw dropping new stuff around.
That is a great group of cans you have there. The Schoenling Bock really caught my attention.

Around 1975 I was staying with my grandparents in Williamstown, KY Most of my time was spent looking for cans on my bike. About 2 miles south of town I found a Schoenling Bock down an embankment. After soaking it I decided to do some touch up on the red.......I butchered the line between red and white.........I was young and dumb. Sometime in the early 90's I met up with a group of dumpers down at the Lake of the Ozarks. I gave the can to John Kotteman and hung out with his brothers and a guy named Bob Lavelle. Bob and I shared of passion for maps and we became friends/digging partners.
Twenty five plus years later Bob and I are still digging cans......were are currently planning our next trip. I've decided to collect only cans that I have dug or have been dug.......in other words ....shiny stuff to be sold. It would be great to to track down some of the cans I dug in my early day.......I often regret not keeping them. I think Bob would agree.

Could I see a close up of the Schoenling ?

P.S. A few miles further down that some road I found some mystery crowntainers. One soaked out to be an Oertel's Bock and, once again, I touched up (re-created) the white.........anybody seen it ?

After searching for several years for a clean example of this can to add to my Lafayette brewery collection I was finally able to obtain this one. My collection is far from complete but I'm really pleased to have this checked off the list. 2018 is starting off well!

Thanks pinnacle-project. It's funny how the collecting bug lay mostly dormant for many years but the enthusiasm and expertise of this site reignited it all over again.

Leon, I don't have the other one yet but I would be interested if one came available... I think the biggest difference between the two is where this one says "quality first" the other has the IRTP statement. I'm more focused on expanding the variety of the brewery collection right now but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have that variation of this can.

The mailman has been busy.
1. Finally got a flat top San Miguel after looking for a long time. I have a Philippines can collection because my wife's parents are originally from the Philippines and it is always nice to get a flat to match all your tabs.
2. Picked the Hub up because I felt it would look good next to all my Oregon microbrew Hub cans.
3. The Rhinelander embossed soft top was an upgrade that I got for real cheap because it was mislisted on ebay as a tab top and you would have surely have thought it was the common tab unless you took the time to click on the last picture. I took the time.
4. A Regal Select/Hamms/Burgermeister overprint DUMPER. Real can that was sold and not rolled.
5. This was a can company variation of this Heidelberg label for me.
6. This was a can company variation for this Heidelberg as well. No bottom though and the ring has been pulled off the tab. It will do until something better comes along.
7. A Straight Steel George Washington Falstaff. Again not rolled. unlisted.
8. A Bicentennial Falstaff drawn steel can listing General (Vancouver and San Francisco) on the seam but actually filled by Pearl (San Antonio) according to the wording on the lid. Funny part was I found I already had this can when I went to put it on the shelf (must be getting old). If any of you Texas guys are interested in it, let me know.
9. Freeport American Malt Beverage FX Matt....looks like an export to the middle east.
10. Aloha Lager contract brewed by G.Heileman, Portland, Oregon for Maui Brewing Company (No relation to the current one)...The true GEM of the whole lot. Prior to this week I knew of 2 of these.....seems like maybe Beer can Pete has one? I had the other. I paid close to a hundred for mine. I considered this aluminum can the rarest can (in terms of number known) for both Hawaii and for Oregon and maybe even G. Heileman. I say this including all flats, cones, tabs, etc. until a seller on ebay listed one recently. I bought it. Sent him an email asking him about them and he had 2 more that he sold me. He had already sold 2 prior on ebay but I never saw the listings they sold so fast. That makes a total of 7 total known now and four are all locked away in collections ...the other three I will be putting up individually for sale or trade on this site first...then back to ebay if no takers. Covers many collections with one can..Hawaii, Oregon, Heileman...
11. Two Black Label Lighter cans

My start to 2018. The Pabst Bock is from L.A., so that completes that set of straight steel cans for me. For some reason the Walters has been eluding me until now. I was happy to finally add the split label Narry to the collection. The Astro was a Facebook find for a really good price, and thanks to Phil Roach for the Regal and Boh.

Just arrived. Unlisted Colt 45 Malt Lager from Baltimore. Getting to the point where the only ones I need are those that never show up, so getting this one is pretty sweet.

Hey Eric

Pokey had this one from a while back; supper tough; was always on the look for one (sorry I did not think you needed this). I was one of the lucky ones that got some Aloha a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for posting!
Michael
