There was a pretty good sized antique show in Portland this weekend. Normally when I go I'm there first thing Saturday morning figuring I've got to fight and claw with other collectors for whatever goodies and bargains are to be had. Yesterday did not work with my schedule but I went today with not much in the way of expectations.
Either all the can guys skipped yesterday as well or did not know what they were looking at. I found this beauty mixed in with a Hamms, Lucky Lager and Olympia. For those who may not be aware, this is a true sleeper can and there is probably less than a case out there. Finding one at a show is next to impossible and years can pass during the interval they pop up on ebay. I did a double take when I saw it and let's just say the price gave me no reason to hesitate pulling the trigger.

Scott - great score - Dave is right there was that find, and maybe 3 or 4 more from Dan Jeziorski find maybe 4 or 5 years before that, maybe a couple others. I agree less than a case

Is that a Portland can or a Montana can?

I asked Scott the same question. It's a MT can. Would be very cool to find a Portland version to match up with the Bohemian Club HQ.

Those cans have been dumped before but the paint is so weak it does not hold up at all.

Re: Killer Score at Antique Show Today
Of course I'm going to keep it. Montana is definitely in my wheelhouse and there are only several left in order to have them all (except Micros if there are any). One is a relatively common Big Sky tab variation that everyone seems to think is rare. I've seen plenty of dusty ones with $75 price tags languishing in people's totes so at some point I'll get one at a more realistic price. There is no rush. It's a fun state to collect as they did not make a lot of cans but some are really really tough.Cap-Sealed wrote:Are you going to keep it?
I do have a down grade to get rid of however. It's one of those dumpers with the crummy paint that I found at a Portland show a couple years ago. I was very surprised to have the opportunity to get that one and even more suprised when a second nicer one fell into my lap.
