I don't have a specific example for you but I am not surprised that you are finding cans where they would not generally be found. In 1977, my family took a vacation from Michigan to California. Each time we stopped at a rest stop, much to my mother's dismay, we would pop the top off the trash cans and dig through looking for cans. We found cans from all over the United States. Apparently people packed their local beers before they left on their vacations and then drank them while they went down the road. One time on that trip, we noticed one of the rooms at the Motel 6 had a bunch of cans stacked up in the window. We left a note for our maid and asked her to give us the cans after she cleaned the other room. She did.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

We used to scout the trash cans in the rest areas of the Garden State Parkway to look for cans from out of the area as well. I remember finding Canadian cans occasionally.

The strangest can I remember dumping was a single Hanley's Lager Beer in a dump full of Ambassador (from Krueger) cans. I can't imagine that was sold in NJ.

Found a (1940s) Genessee 12 Horse Ale on a grade by a stretch of road in Kansas that used to be part of US-40. A dump for a lake just off US 36 in Kansas gave up a Rheingold flat and a Burgermeister pull - definitely travelers who stopped at the lake to picnic i think.
I'm constantly finding good cans... in my mailbox. *** My third year of waging Schlitzkrieg on the Flint Hills of Kansas ***

Ballantine flats, Old German flats, Duquesne zips, Hamm's sunburst flats, Coors flats, Miami Colt zips, All are odd in my region, that's what I can think of.

Digging at the cabin that gave up the sweet dull grey running waiters and IC oi's , we found a new section and pulling out tons of old fashioned crowntainer, and LO and behold Rustmonger gets himself 1 nice Patrick Henry - would call that an odd one

I found some of the same cans in TX that txican found. Namely, I have found Storz Tap, Knickerbocker, and Atlas Prager cans in TX. I have also found Acme and Canadian Ace FT's, Kingsbury Zip, Mile Hi tabs, and steel Coors tab top cans in TX. I found St Louis ABC, Rainier cones and Wisconsin Premium Ft's in CO.

All of these cans were found in a garage in Houston, Texas in 2002. All were purchased, and consumed, in Houston. Absolutely NONE of them were brewed in Houston

Six Brew 102 flats by Maier (white can with red hop leaf) in upstate NY
"Although the cans will be of no value after opened, their cost is expected to be small..." Iowa: June 22, 1935

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Any idea what ever happened to Vince Nemeth's King's Head Ale cone? I've never heard or seen a dumped one before.

Trash cans on road trips: fun times. I did that as a kid. On a trip to Florida in '74 I found one of those white Ballantine Drafts at a rest area, and SS Leinenkugel's in a trash barrel on Daytona Beach.

Drewry's used to strike me as out-of-place in Colorado, but from what I've learned it appears to have been sold there. I think the grand prize in this category should go to Mr. Launt for the pile of Jubilees he found...in western lower Michigan.

That's a first, and pretty cool. A seldom seen brand found a long way from home. If it had been tossed in Ohio, the iron in the soil would have turned it to dust. When I was a kid I remember digging Gam cone tops and they were rusted beyond belief- and that was almost 40 years ago...really appreciate the pic.
