Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
It seems that Myrtle Beach, SC has become the place to be recently. Steve Potter (Potters66) and his wife were down here for vacation at one of the local camp grounds. We had made plans to get together and show off the collection a little bit. Dave Larazollo (Daev) and his daughter stayed with us over the weekend from Columbia, SC to also visit with the Potters and of course drink some beers.....
Melanie and I had a great time having our Rusty friends over for dinner on Friday night (9/26/2014). I was also able to talk Dave and Steve into an Iron Guts Challenge with a 1950's Narragansett Ale flat top......
I got the video camera out to film it all. As it turned out due to operator error (Doh!) I only filmed 3 seconds of it! LUCKILY for me, Steve's wife Charlene was filming as well. The vireo link is below.....
http://youtu.be/IPjmBqoTexE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
After Steve and his wife left, Dave and I were still drinking and carrying on (Big Surprise). Dave found a Church Key modern OI flat top in my fridge and wanted to try it out as well. This time the idiot camera operator was able to handle his duties and film it correctly. Dave as always has his own way of living life and made for a great video clip...lol......
http://youtu.be/35nANtqNK3c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It was truly a fun weekend being able to spend it with Rusty friends..........

That was great. I still have a couple unopened churchkey cans. Think I'll open them outside.

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
How many times did Dave say the Churchkey beer was horrible? Yet, he drank the whole thing. Maybe that qualifies for iron guts even if it was new beer.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

Scott - wow the glass case with the quarts and tap knobs is very cool - the other displays as well. It's great having the pool table in with your collection - great excuse to hang out there often!

Thanks. There is another identical case on the opposite wall with more quarts but with beer train cars instead of tap knobs. We just put the table in there so the room will need a bit of a redesign. Any RB guys passing through Myrtle Beach are welcome to stop in for a cold one........storzman wrote:Scott - wow the glass case with the quarts and tap knobs is very cool - the other displays as well. Another reason to visit Mrytle Beach! My list is growing. I would love for my wife to see those impressive display cases. Of course, she would probably roll her eyes and opt to stay at our hotel :(

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
I so happy me and the wife left before that second video!!!!!! Poor Scott had to deal with Dave the rest of the night but we did return for more fun the next day for more fun. Take a good look at the Ballantine shelf near the floor. Uncle Dave apparently hammered a cue ball into that shelf of cans.
Just a goog time had by all.

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
It's like Blue Gray in September. Pool table and all.
Cool display case full of quarts. The case AND the quarts.
So much for the LMS chapter. (Last Man Standing)
Should start a IGC (Iron Guts Chapter)
You three take the cake.
Funniest thing I have seen in a long time.
Hey Steve.........is the show in Conn. (Mass.?) posted on the Calandar of Events?
When is it? Seems like mid to late November. If I can just get one of these Ohio
guys to ride along. Heard great things about the show.
Hats off to Manny, Moe, and Jack for their drinking skills.

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
Hey Doug,
It's the weekend before Thanksgiving and it should be in the advertise section here and maybe Danny can move it. I'll get you all the info when I get back home next week and send out many more flyers. It should be a great year at a new location.
If I remember correctly we named the "Last Man Standing Chapter" around 4am in Springfield.

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
Very good Steve. I completely forgot about that conversation. Who else was nominated for the LMS chapter? Beer Dave..............John Feinen.............Aho???..........Joe Germino........Robert Fondren?
Rayner Johnson and Al Aprea can consume some adult beverages all day and all night. Ever try to stay up with Greg Lenaghan or Roy Mayfield?
Ah, so many great names. Perhaps we should start a new Hall of Fame!
I think it should be like a driving test, and you have to "re-qualify" every so often.
So I found the show flyer and it's on my wish list. I just went from 32 shows in 3 countries, 50 days of missed work, and all the fun of being Prez.,
to no shows in the month of September. I'm wiggin as my daughter would say. Feel like just spent 30 days at Betty Ford clinic. Need a show,
and I am concentrating on those I have not yet had the pleasure of attending. Maybe the Big R will join us. 6 hour flight?

That would be GREAT if you can make the show!!!!! It keeps growing every year and with the new CLEANER location I think it will be much, much better!!!!!
I have a picture at home of the Last Man Standing Chapter that night but need to get back home first and then will post. There is a chance it might be on this sight somewere but got better things to do right now.
If I had to guess it was You,Me,Aho,Billy Devine and...and...and I'll get it.

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
How on earth did this one slip by me? Killer videos!
The 'Gansett looked pretty good, at least from my house, and Dave hosing down his nice green shirt with a can of Churchkey was worth the price of admission.
Steve said something about assigning IGU (Ironguts Union) member numbers. I'm gonna make that happen...stay tuned.
Thanks for the laughs, fellers!

Re: Fun in Myrtle Beach with Uncle Daev & Potters66
Doug,
It would be great if you could make the Mass. show. I will be there with Steve Pawlowski. I'll take a shot at ranking your LMS contestants. Even in my "prime" I was not close most of these guys.
1. Germino - the guy is simply inhuman.
2. Doug Groth - I've never made it to the end of a session with you - you could have Germino beat.
3. Feinan - both the size and stamina to make the top 3.
4. Greg L. - same as Feinen and likes high alcohol beer to boot.
5. Aho - a middleweight who punches way above his weight, but in with a lot of heavyweights.
6. Rayner - I had a shot at him before he got larger, and I got smaller.
7. Me
8. Fondren - If it was how many different beers instead of how much total beer you drank, he'd be up there.
Not rated:
Beer Dave - although I've drank beer with him on several occasions, I've never had a really long session with him
Roy Mayfield - I've met him and we were both drinking (of course) but I have no basis to rate him. If he can keep up with Lenaghan, he is in some serious company.
For future consideration:
Joe Radman - our only local that you guys know that can run with Germino.
Herb Schwarz - even if its mostly Bud Light.
Perry Paxton - prefers his malt to be distilled, but his Air Force MOS must have been Alcohol Consumption.
Mr. Potter - I've seen him put away a few...
Dave Lang - on the senior tour, but has amazing stamina - he will be pouring (and drinking) beer during the entire 8+ hour sampling event on Saturday.
All BCCA members from British Columbia
Since there is rumored to be an Ironguts sampling, I could bring up a Krueger Beer flat from Newark, from about 1958...
