basement
My room upstairs is pretty much full, so I've been putting new stuff I get in the basement. Starting to take shape...

Re: basement
What was that big knick sign ?? Like was it a poster or a big add on sides of buses ? Any idea ? Genesee used to place big adds or posters on sides of buses back in 50's. Tom Leo had some - pretty cool

Re: basement
I was thinking maybe it was a subway platform sign. It's too big for a bus sign and the dimensions aren't right. It's 48" x 24", dated 1953. I like how it shows NYC from the Dutch 1600's era all the way up to the Empire State Building.kb wrote:What was that big knick sign ?? Like was it a poster or a big add on sides of buses ? Any idea ? Really cool stuff and presentation! I'm with Dan, I wish I had more space...more than 3 square feet!
I really like that Ambassador sign. I've seen it a few times now. Is that a relatively common sign?

Re: basement
Very nice Ron. Now if the upstairs is pretty much full, any pics of that as well, or possibly already posted in a different thread?ronsmall wrote:My room upstairs is pretty much full, so I've been putting new stuff I get in the basement. Starting to take shape...
Also, I know you have some unrolled sheets? How to you display those please? I am thinking of matte mounting the 30-40 I have.

Re: basement
I've only seen this particular Ambassador sign once aside from the one I have. I would not say it's a common sign at all.SoCal wrote:Really cool stuff and presentation! I'm with Dan, I wish I had more space...more than 3 square feet!

Re: basement
I have about 70 of them. The 12 ouncers are all in plastic top loaders. There are no top loaders that fit quart or 16 ounce flat sheets, so I have those in Riker mounts. Oh, and some are framed too. Lately I have been thinking I have too many flat sheets so I have selectively been having Art roll a few here and there. I love flat sheets, but they are a lot easier to display as cans.Randy Karasek wrote:Very nice Ron. I should put together some pics of the upstairs, but I don't want to remove everybody's motivation to come stop by and see it in person!

Re: basement
Wow! What a cool display. You've got some really great stuff, and a nice space to display it in.
I didn't mean to imply the Ambassador sign was common. I just don't know anything about signs. I just love the way those lighted signs look. I've got to save up some money to get a bigger house. :)

Thanks! I was thrilled to get that from our own Dave Launt. I had always wondered why there was no New Yorker advertising when they clearly went all out with the cans and bottles and bottle caps.axlscot wrote:Nice New Yorker steinie adv. piece!!
