Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
The Rainier Chapter has been growing rapidly through social media advertising and the microbrewery explosion. Forever, we have just held 3 shows a year (Feb, Apr, and Oct). Well, that is no longer enough! We held our first annual Summer Bash last weekend and turnout was great. Before the doors opened, a walk-in started a frenzy when he began to unload his car. He had many killer signs including Schaeffer, Hamm's, Olympia, and Rainier brands. I picked up the cool brass Schlitz piece below. Anyone know - was this part of a larger piece?
A long time chapter member brought his collection to sell. This started frenzy #1 as people 'helped' open tote after tote of clean flats, cones, and SS cans. Calcans and Scott Field picked up good stuff. Here is my take.
Great time! Ed, you need to post some show pix.- Carl S

Re: Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
Any idea on value for the Schlitz piece. I figured I was fine at $20.
The Hamm's is a 12oz, but unless Hamm's had some magic, not sure how they fit it in to an 11oz can. I assume this is a Test Can. What's that value on this one?

Pretty much all the cans except the Rainier Jube are available. Not sure what to ask for the Hamm's yet (or the Schlitz brass piece).
PM me for other prices (to keep this post out of the Advertise section).

Re: Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
Carl,
Great Job. I wish ALL the chapters would get off their duffs and utilize the social media thing. Last time I checked it was FREE!
And here is a funny twist...........the walk-ins that sold you cans and signs...........they may tell others about the "crazy guys who bought all the crap out of my garage"
You are bound to see even more walk-ins at your next event. I have been preaching advertising and being OPEN TO THE PUBLIC for years.
Just ask the Toledo guys or the Cleveland guys how it has helped them. Or even middle of know where Potosi, Wisc. And now Seattle/Tacoma.
Promote the show or close the show. Members eventually quit renting tables cause it's the same guys trying to sell the same 70's stuff to each other. Grow or go I say.
Keep up the good work. Sorry I did not make it out your way this year. Doug

Re: Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
Makes sense to me. I never understood why the general public would not be openly welcome to any beer related show. Just the off chance of someone bringing in items or as a possible customer or future collector should never be turned away.truckwashdoug wrote:You are bound to see even more walk-ins at your next event. Looks like there is a big three day show coming up end of August at the Dallas airport. Sure hope this is open to the general public all three days.

I'm certainly not an expert on anything!
But, looking in the Volume II book, page 233. Can #18 looks like it. Says it was rolled into a 10 oz. size. Book values it at $50.

Re: Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
I have the Hamm's test can as well. I believe it is a Hamm's barrel can that was rolled as a regular can and not given the barrel shape.
There are similar versions of the Hamms barrel with the red label and the white Burgie test barrel can and versions of each that were not given the barrel shape.

Re: Rainier Chapter Show July 18th
I would have to agree. They are just Hamm's barrels that never made it all the way through the rolling process to make the barrel shape. Some individual had them rolled with a 10 oz lid slapped on them. I have a Hamm's barrel can 12 oz (like 233-14) rolled as a 10 oz but by Olympia, not Hamm's.Longhorn Mike wrote:I have the Hamm's test can as well.
