What is the back story on Rick Haentjens?
I was sorting through some cans tonight and came across this one. I have always liked Castle Neuschwanstein so this can jumped out at me. On the side it says, "Brewed expressly for Rick Haentjens." I thought maybe I had some ultra rare can made by a millionaire beer lover but that is not the case. So, who is Rick?
As long as I am asking questions, can anyone tell me what other famous castle was inspired by Castle Neuschwanstein? (don't just Google for the answer)

Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

The Disney castle was patterned after Neuschwanstein. My wife is a fricken Mickey the Rat fan and I have spent too many vacations there. No Google required.

I googled his name and it looks like he might be a custom car builder. Not sure how that ties in with beer can sets and the Neuschwanstein Castle (which I visited about 15 years ago - much better than Disney World).

Cinderella's Castle . This from my better half Wendy who remembers it from watching Wonderful World Of Disney back in the 70s.

Re: What is the back story on Rick Haentjens?
I saw the same thing and wondered if maybe that guy just happens to have the same name. If I am patient, I am sure somebody here will know the entire story with certainty.JohnLi67 wrote:I googled his name and it looks like he might be a custom car builder. And yes, a visit to Castle Neuschwanstein is much better than a visit to Disney.

Re: What is the back story on Rick Haentjens?
Bryan,
I remember reading about the cans when I first got Randy's BMV program. Rick Haentjen's family had a beverage distributorship in Pennsylvania. The cans were produced by D. G. Yuengling & Son out of Pottsville, PA. I looked it up and it was in the July, 1979 issue of Beer Cans Monthly:

The beer distributorship is in Conyngham, PA. He has an awesome neon collection.

Here's the webpage for the store.
http://partybeverage.net/beer-beer-beer/339480" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The pictures are really small, but looks like they still have a nice Beer Can collection on the walls.
I remember some liquor stores doing that when I was a kid. Ah, the 70's! The glory days!
