St Louis brewery ghost signs
I travel around the city for work and anytime I see a ghost sign beer related I take a pic and wanted to share them.

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
So that's what you call them! I photograph them but haven't lucked into a beer one yet.... wonder if there are any Muehlebach ghost signs in KC? Did find this cool saloon sign (and Mail Pouch Tobacco) in Peru. Indiana.
I'm constantly finding good cans... in my mailbox. *** My third year of waging Schlitzkrieg on the Flint Hills of Kansas ***

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
This photo is taken from a Highland Spring Brewery Rueter and Alley lithograph in my collection. Somewhere I have a photo of the building which still stands in the Mission Hill area of Boston. It shows the ghosted letters "Highland Springs Ale" on the other side of the building. I'll post it if I find it. Anybody have this photo?

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
There was one I loved when I lived near Chesterton, Indiana and I actually managed to find this (small) picture online. It's not very clear, but way on the left edge of the photo, on the side of the second story bricks, is a big "Berghoff" written top to bottom in white. If I recall correctly, there may have been a later ad with the cursive "Berghoff" logo superimposed over it that had almost worn off, exposing the older one shown here. If I can find a better picture I'll post it.

This one's bigger and at least readable, but there's more painted on that wall that the photo clips off. As some might say, "Click to supersize."

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
There was an old picture of a building here in a newspaper like 10 years ago that had a Schlitz advertisement on the side of it from the 1890's

There is a lot great of post-apocalyptic photo exploration of defunct/dead breweries such as http://sublunarphotography.blogspot.com ... nt-10.html

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
Great pictures! ...It would be cool if they restored some of those old signs like they did with many of the old Coca-Cola ones

Re: St Louis brewery ghost signs
Oh, that is WAY cool. Thanks! Like a trip down memory lane.
Bugs me, though, that I had a cursive Berghoff sign in my head from that same area. Guess I smashed them together in my memory...I'll have to see if I can remember where that was and find another picture.
