Winter is getting old fast here in the northwood's, - 15 here this morning, actually got above zero for a while today. Better than the -30 we've been having. We had more snow yesterday, this will be a tough year on the deer herd, snow is belly deep and combined with the cold, some won't make it. I have three that visit the house often, I try and put some bread and carrots out for them. Old man winter can leave anytime.

I believe there is global warming which causes all sorts of weather related activities hot or cold. And yes that is very cold for New Orleans the alligators were freezing. We've had three separate occasions in South Carolina have teens at night very cold for winter here. Golden West I moved to South Carolina from Montana I keep my house at 58° when my 4.26 yr old Asa Rose comes over I bump it up to the low 60s. I'm going to teach her to like cold-weather and hot food being that I'm from New Mexico originally.

As Regan mentioned earlier, the CO mountains were going to take a hit with some approaching storms. Although the temps aren't frigidly cold (0°-30°), the snowfall Friday was impressive. Anyone wanting to go skiing won't find better snow anywhere. Except for the avalanches.

This snow in South Carolina was very dry so did not pack very well. We had to use buckets. Asa Rose stayed in the bathtub for five and half hours warming her bones.

Canada has once again opened it's door & let the cold air out. A balmy -10° this morning with a forecast high of +5°. The CO mountains are close to 120% above average snow depth for Feb. I saw a news report last night that our road crews are beginning to run low on the de-icer they use to keep the streets clear. I think I'll idle my V-8 a little longer today to release some extra CO2, maybe warm things up a little.

And yet the mountains just to your West are at 20% of average and looking at another drought year. All the wet goes to the North and comes back down and bombs everybody else.

Here in Southern MN we are slightly below average snowfall (feels like way below ave.), and closing in on getting in the top ten coldest winters on record (they estimate around 9th or so)....meaning when all is said and done it will be just an average winter here in God's country.

Yesterday was a low of -27 and high of 5. I skied awesome snow all day. -36 last night with a high of -3 today. Right now it is -24 and supposed to be even colder tonight than last. Not a big deal for us. Winter=cold and snow. No reason to complain because it doesn't help anyway. Might as well just get out and enjoy it.

YellowstoneYeti -48 that's exceptional, that's crazy cold, if I remember right, the winter of '95-'96 was really cold here, I think we had - 52 one morning, but my memory could fail me. I've got off today, because of the cold, figure's right, - 30 out in the sticks. I had some time, and looked at West Yellowstone weather, you've had what looks to me to be a cold winter also, my count from November show's you've had 44 days with below zero nites, with the end of Jan. until now really cold, with the coldest day being Feb. 6 at -36, my information is from the weather underground website, I think you posted -48 for that day, so who know's where they get their info from, I know out where I live were always colder than what's reported. Tomahawk has had 48 days with below zero lows, and I'm happy to say we haven't gotten that close to - 48. For the most part, being a carpenter I work outside a lot, and expect cold weather, this winter is an old fashioned cold, nasty winter

I'm not sure where the official weather station is for West Yellowstone, but I think it is at the (closed) airport. Temperatures vary widely in our little valley. I had -47 that day, the bank said -48, and the West Entrance of Yellowstone was -55. It's not unusual for temps to vary by 20 degrees from one part of the valley to another. One thing we all agree on was that it was cold. It has actually been a typical winter for us temperature-wise, we are a little behind on snow but catching up. It has just been a while since we had a typical cold winter. When I first moved here 30 years ago, any night it was clear in the winter, we had sub-zero temps. The coldest winter I can remember was 88-89 when the low for the winter was -62. International Falls gets all the press but it is usually between us and Stanley, ID for coldest in the lower 48.
It just cracks me up to hear about places shutting down due to a couple inches of snow or temps near 0. We get major snow and our school has never had a snow day in their history. They have had 2 cold days close the school and both of those were -55 or colder.

It's 40 degrees out now. Roads are flooding! Tonight it will freeze and we might get 1/4 inch of ice tomorrow morning. Then afternoon it will rain up to an inch with fifty MPH winds and Friday morning we are going to get a little snow.

Summer today in Central Wisconsin, made it up to 40! :smt004 Got another 8 inches Tues., calling for a 'convective snow event' tomorrow. 6 to 9 inches, with 'thundersnow'. That's pretty rare and very cool. Lightning in a snowstorm is a real visual treat. Red, orange, green, violet, yellow. I can't wait! :smt023 If I can't have things the way I want them (dumping) I need to embrace and enjoy what I have.
