Look Alikes
Maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but it just struck me like lightning tonight that these two old bottle labels look an awful lot alike. Thought I'd post for something to do...

Re: Look Alikes
Are there any association between the breweries. Did one buy the other or the brand? Way to close to go unnoticed by either brewery.

The American Breweries II book says Zoller and Pfeiffer were affiliated from 1935-1945.

Brad, cool information. I used to think I knew something about Pfeiffer's, but never heard of an association with any Iowa breweries! Very neat, and it explains a lot about these labels.

Re: Look Alikes
Here were some I came up with. I am guessing most are produced by affiliated breweries and it is a cost saving issue to share design or paint cost and others are like the F&L which was sued by Bud for looking to much like their can. Still never heard who produced the Dapper can (it doesn't say on the can...)but I put my favorite suspect next to it.(Stroh's)

Re: Look Alikes
Maybe some of these are like "Stock Beer Trays." Maybe they have stock art work and then just change out the Brewer info?

Re: Look Alikes
I think the foreign look a likes were more copies of known good selling brands while USA look alikes used stock templates with similar designs.
With all the traveling overseas I saw a lot of different beers and purchased cans that looked like millers or looked like Buds. Sort of a selling gimmick and they could not be sued because it was outside the USA.
The "Master's Choice" though was not a major selling brand though. It is kind of a harder to find early 70s can. I think the Cz Tipo Zulia can is earlier.
Has anyone seen this design on any flat tops?
