Re: Canadian Question

I checked the Labatt Blue and 50 cans from B.C. they have no mention of the % either, Are there any B.C. labels of Molson Ex or Canadian or Labatt Blue or 50 brands with 8% proof?... just wondering if these brands were introduced after the regulation changed. Another possibility is that some brands...

The 1967 labels have the statement including some Molson (except for one Okeefe label) and the 1969 labels do not have the statement.

Re: Canadian Question

It had to do with early liquor laws in BC. The earlier cans say more that 8% proof (ie more than 4% by volume) and the later ones give an exact amount of 5% by volume (10 per cent proof still more than 8) Thanks Tom, I had often wondered what that was all about, Oddly the early Molson Canadian and ...

Re: Inverted Rib 9 2/3 Oz. Cone Top

I stumbled across this while looking for early beer can advertising this morning, and I wonder if anybody here has seen it or knows anything about it . . . is it a flat bottom, how old is it, are better/additional photos available? The link is to an overview of 9 2/3 oz. cones which is the source d...

Wow! You guys are really coming up with some great lids! Keep 'em coming. And thanks. I won't be updating the collage images until I assemble a handful of them. If I thank you for your post, that means I've got the image set aside and it will be included (unless it's a duplicate). Thanks again. ( M...

Re: Color variation tolerances

Neat subject. Thanx for posting. These are the original documents presumably kept in a climate controlled location with limited light exposure. Over time, I suspect that the environmental factors only increase the variability in color. That said, I am in the process of reviewing and standardizing t...

HERE IS THE CODE FOR THE TECATE CAN DATED 1947. POSSIBLY THE OLDEST WESTERN HEMISPHERE CAN OUTSIDE OF THE USA. Thanks for all of your help. Makes you wish all of the other manufacturers dated things the same way. Canning company employee collections are often good because many had the exact date on the can.

As great that picture is, I can't quite make out the small mark behind the canning code. Sweet can. At a Blue/Gray many years ago I was given a handwritten page of American code symbols, work from Robert Porter and Kevin Lilek. All I did was turn the hand drawn symbols into digital images and a web...

Re: Dating American can company cans

@foreigncanman If I'm understanding you correctly, you're looking for a two patent Keglined logo. I believe I came across one while doing my Logos post. Below the logo, it has A.C.Co, I'm guessing a 70A or 90A, followed by what appears to be a bow tie symbol used for dating. Image isn't the sharpes...

The brown and cream Moosehead (23-26a) has no contents listed...Maybe the Mule can is a Canadian can because the fellow who chopped it down is Canadian... Good point about the Moosehead which is also possibly a test can. But your theory of a Canadian ,possibly a lumberjack, chopping it down is intr...
