Re: Northwestern Roadtrip

Soaked the cans in oxalic for about 2-3 hours. Cleaned up okay, nice colors, but too many holes. Missing are the two mystery cans, both Bosch, both terrible.
Since they are not in collectible grade, I am using them to decorate the patio. My non-collecting friends find them interesting.

Re: A Common Zip

It should follow that the most common clean bottom-opened zips would be from the nationals and large regional brewers. Budweiser, Schlitz, Pabst, Miller, Black Label, and Falstaff for nationals. Ballantine beer, Ruppert, Schaefer, Rheingold, Strohs, Hamms, Lucky, Olympia, Busch, Old Milwaukee, Drewr...

Dave, nicely done.
I don't know why I'm in the Michigan UP digging cans, when I should be back home in Maine doing same.
Actually it is fun either way.

My how time flies... back in Seney, Michigan, the UP. Drove around from Seney to Shingleton to Munising to Grand Marais back to Seney then to Blaney Park to Manistique and back to Seney. Checked out a lot of dirt roads but with no luck, as usual, except for the one spot I hit back in 2011. Only spen...

Re: Post your pictures and highlights from the 2018 Summerswap show here.

Just finished filling the trunk with beer cans. Leaving early tomorrow morning for a 1,048 mile ride to Frankenmuth (with a 1-week stopover in Detroit for my mailman's convention) and should be there sometime on the 20th. Bringing a bunch of 1935-36 Krueger Cream Ale dumpers, a big variety of new cr...

Here is another way: After clicking on a sold listing, it might give you a similar item with a blue band across the top. In this blue band, click on "listing" in the message: The listing you’re looking for is no longer available." Once the listing appears, click on "See original listing" Yeah, that...

Re: Budweiser Flats 44-13 Style Need Year for Archaeology Site

I just finished looking online at "1950s Budweiser ads" and the website http://www.vintageadsandstuff.com/adsbeerbudweiser.html showed quite a few examples. The gold-split Buds were last advertised in 1956. The white-split Buds in 1957. The non-split Buds in August 1958. These are Life magazine ads ...

Re: Old Tap Ale Quart Find

Looking at the original find picture, I notice that all the flats and bottles (can't really see the Ballys) are from the early to mid 1950s. So are the Old tap quarts the older IRTPs or perhaps an unlisted non-IRTP version? I know that rival Massachusetts brewers Croft and Dawson had non-IRTP quarts...

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)

You may have noticed that ebay, with their infinite wisdom, has decided to make it more difficult to look at a closed listing. In the case of the link to the fake Stoney's conetop, they take you to a live auction for a Wooden Shoe conetop. Notice the line in blue that says: The listing you're lookin...

I don't quite remember the price of beer, I think a six-pack of Schlitz was about a $1.50.
I do remember that an ounce of good weed was $20.

I placed flags on graves for Memorial Day for three years. It is very humbling to see the markers of those KIA during 1945 just days or weeks before the victory. Free people should never forget their sacrifices.

Having breakfast for supper: hot Italian Sausage, eggs, onions, tomatoes and shredded cheese.
Kona Big Wave Golden Ale (from Colorado), Miller high Life (from Trenton, Ohio) before dinner to loosen up the taste buds.
Long Trail Vermont IPA with supper, then one more for desert.
But which one?

Re: IT'S OVER !!!! CONGRATS TO THE CHAMPION !

Even though I went with the Purple Cow, I had backed the Trumps in each match up and it was probably a foregone conclusion that a 1930s can would win. Nice to see two New England cans in the final, assuming that the PC is from Cranston, not Troy, NY. Are those two cans the two prettiest cans in the ...

The Valspar Packaging website has a location at 2001 Tracy St in Pittsburgh which is the other end of the block from Westhall. Just did a google search of the address and 2000 Westhall is the address for Valspar Corp, Packaging Coatings Group. Google Earth only shows 2098 Westhall. The prison is across the street. Valspar may or may not still be there as what little information is from third party business websites.

It appears to be one of those custom made novelty items with "your name printed here". Would look great in your mancave. Also available in wall clocks and all sorts of home and garage decorations.
Merely a coincidence that there actually was a Gast brewery back 80 years ago.
