Re: Your favorite Antique/Flea market finds

I grew up near the Shipshewana flea market in Northern Indiana. Much of my childhood collection can be attributed to that flea market. Things were pretty simple back then. I had a cardboard suitcase that was leftover from a Boy Scouts fundraiser. I would fill it up with cans and walk around the fle...

Re: A 3.2% can database?

@MarkB Took me a couple of days but I went through the Lewandowski Composite file (saved it back from 2015) and cut down the 47,105 lines to 27,530 lines. Original file was a terror to work with. After some serious culling, sorting and re-arranging, found 514 cans ID'd with the 3.2 statement in the...

Re: A 3.2% can database?

Every can sold in WV from 1945 to 1980 was 3.2%. Every flat top and pull top can from 1950 to 1980 had a 3.2% WV tax lid on it. I have over 600 cans with a WV tax lid in my collection. A 3.2% can database?

Hi all. Would it be worth the (considerable) effort to start a database of cans with a 3.2% lid? It's easy to tell with cans sold in Virginia because they have a green tax stamp rather than a yellow one, so I consider it a variation. But it'd also be a lot of work. Would anyone else find it useful? ...

Was that the guy who used the BCCA roster to send everyone a price list?? Richard Dolphin I think.

Re: Hudepohl gallons: which is which?

Looking at the supplement isn't one metallic (short) and the other enamel (tall) but hard to figure out the height between the two. Also, looking at the supplement, there are 39 gallons (one of which is the Burger 1/16 bbl) and only 3 of them have a 5 panel view (244-11 Gettelman Bock, 247-1 Walter...

Mickey's 16 oz from Sterling as a flat?

I recently picked up a 16 oz Mickey's from Sterling like USBC #2 156-23. It's a flat top though. Has anyone else seen this can as a flat? There are no obvious gear marks that I can tell to indicate a relidding.

thanks, MarkB

Thank you. So I guess it's a Minnesota can. Cool! Ohio used to have a 3.2% law. You had to be 18 yo to buy 3.2% and 21 to buy stronger. That's why you see some older Ohio cans in different shaded labels, such as the London bobby crowntainer. One was 3.2% and one was stronger. When I turned 18 (1977 ...
