Not sure if any of these will inspire more clever quips, but 40 is significant.

40 thieves and 40 days and 40 nights resonate with me.

And if wise to think ahead... when Rusty Bunch gets to 45 we can think about Fortified and Dixie...

Cheers!

Re: Ballingall's flat top cans Ireland and other non usa flats

Thanks for the pitures! Copied this from the web: Ballingall & Son Ltd began its life as the Pleasance Brewery, Dundee, Scotland, which seems almost certainly to have been established before 1750, although the founder is unknown. In the 1790s the business was acquired by Ebeneezer Anderson, a lo...

The "SE" logo that started this post is shown as a canning logo in at Ozenir Carlos Peixoto's book on South American cans. He shows example of 35 different canning symbols. It is used on some of the Polar and Nacional cans from Venezuela. Will try to find out more.

The fix is the gem in this. There are some every small variations (literally a single letter code on the side) and there is an even rare red FIX Export Beer version. The next rarest in my opinion is the rarer Topenfest version of the Holsten Tiger can (upside down in picture). You see the "WELT...

It took me about an hour to figure out how it was working. Luckily the one can I wanted was a in one of the 200s of lot numbers so I had time and still was able to snag it ... I thought at first it was due to my being in the Mountain time zone. I have wondered, it might be best to collect brands tha...

At some point you can enjoy a beer fueled discussion at the bar over when is a cone top a bottle or a can... German/Swiss/Spanish/French breweries after WWII did use 2 piece aluminum cones in the 50's - some painted, some with paper labels affixed. I have not heard a solid and documented "this ...

Iron city doesnt count. They closed their historic pittsburgh plant and are now just a contract brewer. Then you can scratch Pabst. It too is a contract brewer. A-B & Miller-Coors are owned by foreign companies , so do they still count? While I will not try to untangle AB-Inbev other than to sa...

It would seem probable the more a collector specializes, the more the small variations matter - especially if it is one of the ways that leads to a can or two being added to your shelves at a satisfying interval?

First non-US beer can is considered cream and red Felinfoel Brewery Co. Ltd. Pale Ale. I hesitate to say the BBC got it wrong - but pretty sure it was not in 1931 and it wasn't the can pictured: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/objects/mLpYbeiaRfi6TI5vusaOMw#:~:text=In%201931,%20the%20small%2...
