An example of a recent Japanese 2 piece aluminum cone with twist top - not sure what can company is behind it?

and for those who get merry with goats - a Bock version of the Grüner - a few were found back in 2011, haven't seen more since.

Re: Augsburg Kristall Pilsener Aluminum Cone from Good Guys Auction

The European use of aluminum predates the US by almost a decade with many attributing the use of aluminum to shortages of steel after WWII? As some may have seen the article in the BCCA magazine (NOV/DEC 2017) Primo of Hawaii in 1958 followed the path of a two piece concave (flat) top can version th...

Re: Puerto Rico poll

Thanks to all who have clicked either yes or no on the poll. Hope more will add their voice - intriguing to see the percentage shift over time. Again, this is not a referendum for any particular decision. The fluctuation possibly reveals to a degree the reasoning for the ambiguity behind why Puerto ...

I have not seen that version before - great can to "preserve". I have two versions and one is somewhat like his one with "BEER" on one side and "CERVEZA" on the other and "BACARDI" below the profile of Hateuy's head. I would line up for the can too.

Spoke with Eric a little in ABQ while waiting for an elevator, he said that something along the lines of "bots" got into the code and messed up such things as the inventory where he tracked whether something had been sold or not - had folks trying to buy items that had already been sold. He has to r...

a small discovery … I have two of the India flats, one looks lidded but has a beaded seam which means it likely was not rolled. Interesting to the small detail aficionados among us - the one that I have that "matches" Tom's is a CCC48 with the canning symbol to the left of the 5 weld seam, Tom's 3 t...

Re: Puerto Rico poll

As far as I know, Puerto Ricans who currently reside in Puerto Rico can "vote", but the votes do not actually count as they do not have a voting representative in Congress and also do not have "electors" in the Electoral College. Not that Wikipedia is the official arbitrator of all things truth: htt...

The recent posts about 10oz can composite intrigued me as the status of Puerto Rico, and a few other US territories, comes up. Thought I see what fellow Rusty Bunchers thought.

Re: 10oz Tab Top Can Composite...Updated

Not trying to get folks riled up, just curious how borders are "drawn". Puerto Rico is an Unincorporated and Organized United States Territory. Hawaii was an Organized Incorporated Territory of the U.S. from April 30, 1900 until August 21, 1959 - the Primo foil label cans date from October of 1958. ...

Re: First Aluminum Test Can??

Wonder --- it may be one of the reasons Coors released the first aluminum cans in a 7oz size to help handle the stresses on a high speed production line? The smaller diameter of the can body help to reduce the asymmetrical pressures on the tp and bottom, right? Round portion of the seamless cylinder...

The story may be a series of steps and facets. First, while the Germans had developed a stable production process for aluminum cans, it was not on the scale of a major US brewer's operation - in an article at the time of the first production runs (Honolulu Advertiser 10 Oct. 1958 page B2 far right c...
