2018 results

It's the time of the year for look-backs. How did everyone do in 2018? I picked up a handful of cans and made only one dumping trip which was to Maine with Andy C and Dave R. First pic below is shelf cans from the Maine trip. Second pic is cans I picked up at shows or otherwise; some upgrades, some ...

Re: Somebody scored on Craigslist

Nothing to see here. Non-collector Craigslist seller shops some cans around. High bidder gets them and flips them. Other guys are disappointed. Happens all the time everywhere. As I stated above, the St Louis area just has a lot of competition in this arena.

Re: Somebody scored on Craigslist

St. Louis area is a tough place to troll for cans. There are way too many guys out there chasing them. I used do it half-heartedly and made one nice score, but gave up on it years ago. The competition is heavy. Only nice scores I’ve made in recent years have been word of mouth that nobody else knew ...

Berghoff Stout ML on ebay

I wanted this Berghoff Stout Malt Liquor that just closed on ebay, but it went too high for me at $1000. I was surprised it went that high, considering the condition. Tough can though. It would have been nice to go with my other two Berghoff cans of that family. Which is tougher, the Stout ML or the...

Re: Manhattan Ale 4 Panel OI

The surfacing of this can is significant and is probably the coolest thing I've seen in the hobby in a while. It's not often that an essentially unknown Manhattan OI can surfaces. I'm not aware of this can legitimately being known to exist previously. The can in the book is one of the photoshopped c...

Glad you resurrected this thread. The Food City info is interesting, but I really just enjoyed reading Paul King's writings and hearing his voice as I read them. RIP, Paul.

4P Badger

Picked this 4P Badger up off eBay. It was a wild card with the poor photos and the appearance of further cleaning needed. I was hoping it was rust that would simply soak off, but much of it turned out to be more of a stain/deposit, and was very difficult to get off without causing collateral damage....

Goebel bantam question

I've only now come to appreciate the different slogans on the 8oz Goebel Bantam cans. It hadn't really registered with me before. How much tougher is the "Right from the cypress casks..." version versus the "Nationally famous... "version? I don't see the "cypress cask" version out there anywhere on ...

Re: Rolled Cans

I came up with two of the Red cap cans. One was an intact air-filled zip, and one was a flat sheet. I sold the can to Dan Morean and the flat sheet to OMT, who then had Art roll it. I don't know enough to say whether the air-sealed can was rolled or not. Attached are a few pictures of the can and th...

The best ones are grade 2. Relatively common labels though. Realistic price for the best ones is $25.00. Cool find for sure!
