It's about an hour from my house. Depending on rush hour traffic.

It may be Monday or Tuesday before I could get over that way.

Re: Help bringing a sign back from CANvention?

Many thanks to Scott Kennedy, Jim Romine, & Phil Jackson for helping me get the Black Label Mirror home from CANvention. And thanks to Kenn Flemmons for finding it for me. It is not real rare or old, but it is one of the few Carling pieces that lists the Carling Atlanta brewery on it.

Help bringing a sign back from CANvention?

Hi all, Once again, I am unable to make it to CANvention this year. Kenn Flemmons is bringing a Carling Black Label framed mirror to the show for me. I need help getting it back to Georgia. I don't think we have many (if anyone) from Georgia going to CANvention this year. I can also pick up the mirr...

Thanks for the heads up. It is 3 hours each way for me, so too far to gamble on there being something better than what can been seen in the picture. I will pass it on to a guy in Macon that could get there more easily.

Joe, I don't know yet. I'm waiting to see what time the GA vs. UT game kickoff is in Athens. Either way, I can get one to you there.

Thanks!

I've been chasing this framed photograph for a few months and finally got it last week. Atlantic Ice & Coal Co. Sales Meeting January 4-5,1937. There is an Atlantic billboard on the far right in the background with the waiter on it. I assume this was Atlantic sales staff & employees from all...

Re: Carling Malt Lager 16 oz. cans

This is my personal opinion and not from any known source. I think that Carling was trying to market Calgary as a premium product that customers would think was "exported" from Calgary, Canada to the US. It would compete with Heineken, Tuborg, etc. Here is a picture of the cans with tax st...

The lids are the only difference. One is a zip top & one is a fan tab. The fan tab is a little faded too. The 12 oz. Carling Malt Liquor fan tab can is the only one in the series that I have seen that is not a zip top. There may be others out there. If anyone has any non-zip Carling or Calgary M...

I saw this at a local antique store but did not buy it due to the poor condition. It is the same size as a stack of six packs and has a base that may have rotated. Maybe it hung from the ceiling? Or it could be on upside down. I could not find any markings on it for Atlanta or Cleveland. I just wond...

Cans of any variety are not commonly found at antiques stores & shows here in Georgia. So, I picked these up when I found them. Not real rare but I was happy to at least find SOMEthing! The Black Label is Cleveland with a Maryland tax stamp. The Old Dutch have Ohio tax stamps with nothing on the...

I watched "The Phenix City Story" (1955) last night on TCM channel. It is a true story about the illegal bars, gambling, prostitution, etc. that prospered across the state line opposite Columbus, GA in Phenix City, AL and how it got cleaned up. Gen. Patton even threatened to attack it! I h...

Is DRYGAS cone a paint over?

I saw this can in an antique store today and wondered if it may be a paint over. It has a crown top and a concave bottom. It was too much for me to just buy it outright. I looked at the paint over section here on RB and did not see it mentioned. Does anyone know? Thanks!

If close to Atlanta, join us Saturday.

We have a pop up show Saturday, Sept. 25. Friday night we will visit nearby craft breweries. Join us if you can. Contact me about that or about a table at the show. See the show flyer posted on the show forum for the address, etc. Mask as you prefer and as breweries require. So bring one.
