Please post the result on Texas here- I fly out of Houston on Friday and will have like 5 minutes to hit a liquor store on the way.

Re: Dave Lang cans
Got one! Glad to see many of these getting respect, but still some real bargains to be had. For all the whining I’ve heard about a lack of brocket quarts over the years, someone got a deal! I got a Keith Norton by way of Dave lang can for the shelf, one I’ve always wanted, at a price that made me sm...

Re: Paint over Qwarts and speciifically Eblings beer
I don’t have a good count on these. Benbow rubbed out a nice-ish one that Morean sold for him. There are the book cans, gotta be more out there. Not many though!

Beer can pilgrimages
Work travel finds me in central Louisiana this month, so naturally I found a way to pass through “tiny Church Point, Louisiana,” in the immortal words of Lee Cady. IMG_4330.jpeg Not that tiny, 4000+ people, but just one grocery store, a somewhat renovated Piggly Wiggly. I suppose this is where it al...

Re: Dave Lang cans
Dan vehemently tries to get his consignors to do regular auctions with no reserves, hidden or otherwise. It just turns off too many people, and you never get the run up when bidders are competing. And it telegraphs to the bidder that the seller thinks they know more than the buyer, kinda pushy.

Re: Paint over Qwarts and speciifically Eblings beer
Hmm. I had two dumper eblings but both brake fluid. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one out there in nature, not enough data points to guess. Yet, there are some cans largely known from only a single find that would otherwise be practically unknown. Like tayter’s dawson quarts. Perhaps that one big eblings...

Re: What are these called?
The older versions with gold or yellow trims instead of blue are worth quite a bit more. I’ve seen a number of full sheets of these (like 30-40 cans per full sheet) in antique shops out here for about $100 apiece. They’re still cool to frame, you get a better view of the art than you do with a can.

Re: Totally Bummed Today
The crowntainers are not as rare as the other cans mentioned. Md guys have them, I used to have both in decent shape and never threw $$$ around. It’s the out of town folk, because none of these have surfaced in the last couple years of crazy internet bidding and they don’t have tough crowntainer xyz...

Re: Totally Bummed Today
Nope, no idea who. Lots of grifters abound inside and outside of the chapter. Some folk seem to have a pitch that encourages sellers to take an offer without asking anyone to even match it. I wish I knew the magic words, seems like it would cost the seller nothing to ask for a few $$$ more, but they...

Re: Totally Bummed Today
Another tactic to try to level the playing field is to message the seller and say, hey, you’re gonna get offers so I’d like the chance to beat any of them before you end the auction. Let them know you won’t make your top bid until late. That cuts out most people trying to game the system.

Dave Lang cans
The first one I noticed just went off in Morean auctions on Sunday, a 007 that Dave bought and drank in his New Jersey days. He didn’t collect set cans so he only bought the one. The latest auction has many more of his gems, including the unique Narragansett pale oi and the nicest pair of golden rod...

Moot point- I’m not headed back to fort Leavenworth so I wouldn’t be able to pick up that can anyway. Glad to pass along the info in case it is anything special. Asked only because I’d never seen one.
Thnx for the info. Sooner or later I’ll score on this Trip!

Re: Perone Quart!
Of all the unique quarts, I think this is the only one that ever received the Lew Cady Effect. Condition is very nice, albeit dedented on the back, and storied as many know the longtime owner as a top-shelf person. 50k but I’m not a betting man. I hope the new owner is half as gracious in letting ot...

Re: Aussieguinnessman!!1!
Not sure this one isn't different, although I didn't look closely at last year's. Since they closed the brewery here in the last year, and this new one has a Dublin mandatory, it may be different. Only you know for sure!

Oh great, now I have crabs, too. Funny thing is, Guinness doesn't actually stand with Maryland. They closed their brewery here last year, and these cans were filled in Dublin. So why does this can exist?

Re: Beer Can Dreams
I can still see the scene of a long skinny dump running along the ditch on a country road; wish I could remeber the 4 unique unknown quarts I dug in it. Good times. Oddly I had a breweriana dream at some point back, a chalk backbar Ruppert piece that doesn't exist. It had a can mounted in it, also t...

Re: Why waste money painting over your own label??
Yeah, the feds required it back when it was fashionable to make your company look big and nationwide. Then when it became fashionable to advertise your Rocky Mountain water or the like, big beer lobbied to remove the requirement. Then when contract brewers (Sam Adams) started making trouble, big bee...

Re: Scam Acme OD on ebay....scammer back again
I emailed the dubious seller asking why the photos were the same from the first listing, he replied that it’s ok, just his wife posting them for him. She must be a real jet setter secret agent! More troubling is the message means the scammer has fully hijacked peoples’ eBay accounts, and they’re not...

Re: Scam Acme OD on ebay
I don't know what finally tripped ebay's trigger, but I messaged the seller of the original can back in Sep/Oct and told him he was the only one whose rights were being infringed in a way that ebay cared about. It was his photos that were stolen so he was the only who'd been harmed, in a certain sen...

Re: Scam Acme OD on ebay
Not sure which is fishier, the faux listing itself or ebay's AI telling me that based on my complaint the listing was free of violations and in full compliance. Maybe they needed the item #'s for comparison? Not sure how much hand holding they actually need, but something got through to them at leas...

Re: What actually is a "restored" can on ebay?
I had more restored cans photographed for which I never got matching originals in time for the story. And in the interest of magazine space I think only that pair of cans ended up pictured. Higher-res scans stored on this site might be far more useful, maybe even build up a database of it? The deale...

Re: What actually is a "restored" can on ebay?
The seller says nothing about exactly what has been restored, but one solid guess is that these were all worked on by the late Bob Porter in one way or another and sold to unsuspecting collectors whose stuff later hits the market this way. There's no "R" stamped on the seam like they were ...

Re: Got my Pabst W/F in the mail yesterday :(
I once had an indoor quart arrive bent in half; the box was about as jacked up as yours and packed no better. There were rubber markings on it like it had been crushed under a garage door. Insurance is of no help because these are not regularly priced retail products, of course. I ended up making th...

I love a good woody can in the afternoon! Glad to see it headed back to OH and I love the shiny keglined stripe. I've watched these ever since (I felt) slightly overpaying for a nice one the year beverlx and I went to Clayton's show in 2019. Glad to see them get some respect. I only needed one for m...
