Re: Wind Tunnel Cans - Supersonic Engineering
There are at least two more supersonic wind tunnels which have not yet been decommissioned..... I know of the one in Langley, VA....what's the other one? I was not aware of the one in Langley. There is one in the Bay Area (Moffett Field) - just think of all the CA brands you might find. I heard the...

Re: Wind Tunnel Cans - Supersonic Engineering
Thanks kamsquared for the great research and photos. I can attest that there were many more misprints in the older cans from the Boeing wind tunnel. Once the misprints were exhausted (and QA processes improved), they had to fill orders with production quality cans. Being mid-50s in Seattle, this mea...

Hi @Randy Karasek , any chance there is a web-based BMV in the future? I can't get it past my Norton security to run locally on my PC.

Re: Variation or No Variation - Heidelburg Flat
This is a red shift (print error). More obvious misprints from this same American Can Company plant ended up in the Boeing wind tunnel. This was minor enough to get past the QA. Note that Calcans did dig a Rainier Jubilee misprint with one color totally upside down. Many more of these were rejected ...

Re: My Best Find of 2022 . What your ???
My best single find of 2022 occurred while I was on vacation out of state. Someone contacted me through the Internet saying they were looking to liquidate their dad's estate including his can collection. After seeing the initial photos, I knew I had to act quickly. pic 5.jpg pic 4.jpg pic 3.jpg pic ...

Re: Looking for new pilot to take over Wind Tunnel Lidding Project
Hi John,
I love the Heidelberg guy peaking out of the Rainier R. Lots of great misprints. I did not know you scored so many Cartoon Jubilees.
That would be quite the operation to take on with all the lidding possibilities.
Good luck.

Re: Morean Auction - June, 2022
The parking/hiding theory is certainly part of it- driven by people with large amounts of dirty money or those who wish to commit fraud. When two or more of them start playing, they can buy and sell to each other, essentially laundering their profits, just not so quickly as to arouse suspicion. I b...

Re: Morean Auction - June, 2022
I would love to know who is buying all these items. Are they new collectors with deep pockets? Are they just investors looking for a place to park their cash? How many unique buyers are contributing to this insanity? What do they see that the rest of us are missing? And most importantly, can I pleas...

Would be interesting to know who is bidding in Dan's auctions. That could help answer the 'why' question when things do not make sense on the surface.

Yep, that is the transition Heidelberg can and placed chronologically correctly. Maybe as many as 50 of them recovered from the wind tunnel find.

The can on the left is a tough transition label. We found about 20-30 of these in the Boeing Wind Tunnel find. These came from that find.

That can was missed in the inventory. @Scott Field has an original (filled) one as do others. I'm sure this transition can was just overlooked, but it does not get much love.
