Re: Leinie’s Red aluminum pilot + others

Thanks Kams! I don’t remember the birch bark canoe label on a can. Bottle maybe, no can. I drank alot of Red! Drove semi for a distributor that kept Killian’s cold (right next to the Coors!) while the “good” beers sat in a warehouse. Outdated Killian’s was ultra-cheap and plentiful, that fueled my t...

Re: Leinie’s Red aluminum pilot + others

I have not had a chance at this particular Clipper but had heard they used a ships image from a nearby bank sign and had to remove it from their label? That story was not confirmed by the Art Director from 1979 to 2014 at Miller, he had the cans. Ziphippie

I did have five of those rolled by Art. They all went to Rusty Bunchers. The real oddball is the flat top picked up from an employee collection in WI. Ziphippie

Funny. I was thinking about getting rid of my soda cans- I have a bunch. Need to downsize so these are available. Talking to you Tinman….. Sometimes things just don’t work out. Under the Fischer’s Old German. Cross-hatched primer with no lacquer between the labels and some rippling of steel, like trying to rubout a golf ball. Ziphippie

Re: Why waste money painting over your own label??

Interesting initial question. Were the painted over sheets from a closed brewery or just flawed in some way? Don’t think the canning company cared what was painted over, just grabbed from the large stack of unused sheets that has piled up in the corner over the years- accumulating rare labels for us...

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)

My bro’ displays old beer cans in his office and old soda cans in his ‘66 Pontiac Lemans, conversation starters for sure. People always notice. This has led to some finds for his collection- mostly what he is selling here trying to raise funds for a new Chesapeake pup. The group of cans recently sol...

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)

My brother has been posting some shiny cans he found recently as buy-it-now on theBay. His work as a fisheries biologist near WA state line puts him in contact with old beer cans every now and then. Very rarely does he grab dumpers when on location, but he’ll send me some better rust he’s found. Hop...

Was hunting for something else and found this thread thought it might be fun to bring it back up. I would go to Yoerg as Minnesota's first brewery and were still in business.
