Re: Antique Mall Consolation prize

As for your Shell can, there is no zip code which indicates it was from before 1962/63? In addition, the use of the word INFLAMMABLE was typically switched to simply FLAMMABLE in the 50s and 60s, although I could not find an exact conversion date for that.

Re: Antique Mall Consolation prize

Nice colors and my first job was for an ARCO station that became a Shell station. I may have bought it too rather than go home empty-handed. I had the pleasure of visiting the Heart of Ohio antique mall in Springfield for almost 4 hours one day a few weeks ago and STILL did not finish the building!!...

Re: Come to Arkansas, get some cans

This is one of those "Opportunities of a collector's lifetime". I will be in Dayton, OH this week, but sadly it is still a 10 hr drive to Cabot! I have had the privilege of cherry-picking a few collections and it is great experience. I wish I could help you by helping myself, but I don't think I can...

Has anyone seen the new Ford F-Series commercials playing the Smokey & the Bandit theme song?? It is a very catchy tune, but Smokey & the Bandit was 99% GM vehicles!!! Maybe I am being too critical, but it just seems wrong...

Re: Dawson’ Master Ale Playing Card

The guy who bought it is named Franky Mitton and lives in Salem, MA. He just posted on Facebook. I think he is some sort of antique collector, etc and says this was the first can he ever bought. Lucky SOB! His pics on FB make the can look even nicer. WOW!

Haha! I wish! I have not been on CL for about a week cuz I was on vacation in the Azores!!! A beautiful island if you ever get the chance to visit! Delicious food, good wine & beer. As for the Dawson, there are plenty of beer can "hawks" in the area. If you think it went for $400, I guess somebody g...

Craigslist score!!! The Can Gods Are Smiling Down On Me!

Hi all, Perhaps I was just overdue, or perhaps because I displayed my cans in the Public Library, but the Can Gods have definitely smiled on me this week! Like many of you, I was searching thru Craigslist and found a posting for some cans nearby for 'Best offer'. The picture looked interesting, but ...

Interesting choice of backdrop—literally for the auction... Ha! I never even noticed until you made your post. WOW! Sex sells!!! That background art is superb! In a related theme - I am glad I picked up a super clean 7 UP flat this weekend @ Woodfest for only $10 (alas, not a fancy export one)

Re: Prayers go out to our fellow members expected to be directly impacted by Hurricane Florence

I must admit, whenever I hear about flooding, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes one of my first thoughts is "what about the beer cans?" or any other similar collection. Most people are smart enough to seek shelter and most home furnishings can quickly be replaced or upgraded, but those beloved collect...

Re: Another way to attract new collectors to the hobby!

Bob, Nice job! One thing I would suggest adding is an example of a few dumpers, maybe a before and after. I have always recommended propping up the dumper or off grade cans because this may encourage someone who has less shine on there cans that there cans are good too. I remember when I first join...

Re: LAST WEEKEND on RB! World Champion Clydesdale sign w/BONUS!

Thanks Scott! I agree with your assessment. The truth is I did not sell it because I needed the money, but rather that I was tired of storing it. At approximately six feet in length, it was a two man lift for safe handling. It sat in my attic for roughly 12 years and it was time to sell it. I knew t...
