Re: Coca Cola hiding in basement

I talked with the guy today and he is pretty sure it is all original. Was in a fire department and when he got it they had backed a truck into the front door. He had a local body shop do the repairs. Any idea of value.... he may want to part with it. Steve Hey yes I see now that it is all original,...

Hot item with the ebay crowd - no less than five recently sold examples from $385 on up. There are a couple different versions. Yours looks to be pretty clean.

Happy Father's Day

Or should I say Happy Dad's Day? Just picked this up. Air can, pretty clean outside of some bumps around the "King Size." Love the "Dad's and Dog's" on one side and Dad's and Burgers" on the other.

Re: Need info for a Coke collectors book

Do you need to buy it? Most large libraries will have it in stock. Otherwise I would look at buying either a 10th or 11th edition for a fraction of the price. You should be able to figure out what's rare and what's not with either of those volumes. Prices were out of date by the time the book was pu...

Re: Estate Sale Finds

According to their website (http://www.duffysrootbeer.com/about-us.html), Duffy's started in 1929 and was "one of the first to offer the 12 oz bottle." I guess the key to dating this one would be decoding the numbers on the bottom of the bottle or figuring out when they stopped using paper...

Re: Estate Sale Finds

I think you're right on the Whistle being from the 1920's. Duffy's is still making cola's so I emailed them to see if they could narrow the date on the Lime Rickey but no response yet. I'm thinking that's a prohibition bottle.

Estate Sale Finds

Picked these up over the weekend at an estate sale. Not what I went there for but oh well....
1933 Coors, 1st bottle used after prohibition (Denver)
1930's? Duffy's Lime Rickey (Denver)
Whistle Bottling Company (Denver)
Orange Crush, 1920 patent date (Denver)
Cragmont Quinine, looks like 1963.

World War II Crowns

It's my understanding that bottlers used a repeating pattern on the wartime caps to eliminate waste if there was a mistrike. Can anyone confirm this? Was this mandatory or voluntary? There was quite a bit of variety on the Coca Cola and 7up versions, anyone know why?
