An elderly relative knew I collected “cans” and sent me this.
Too bad it wasn’t a nice quart cone of beer in this shape…

Re: Pure Malt Extract bottle

might be tough thing to find the brewer on. I have had 3-4 different brands of the pre-pro malt extracts that were produced just in Portland, OR. So I am assuming they were pretty commonly produced in lots of places by lots of brewers. Labeling laws werent so tight back then so you may never know.

Re: So will we see one in the United States?

I have seen a 2.5 gallon printed can for sale (once) that was produced by a Southern Oregon microbrewery about 10 years ago. Came with an outer box and a built in tap. At that time, I didn’t buy it due to the fact that it was quite expensive and I didnt want 2.5 gallons of blonde lager sitting aroun...

Re: Cleaning cardboard..

Conservationist often use alcohol and blotter paper to suck the alcohol back up with all the dirt it has grabbed. I have tried it a few times on labels and the key was to not get too much alcohol on it prior to blotting. Not sure how well it will work if the cardboard has a wax coating on it though ...

I am interested in tabs in different ways: -1. first, to complete the on line version of USBC II, we are both finding cans that were not originally included and we are having problems re-imaging all of the original entries - especially the odd variants of common brands (e.g., Schlitz from Syracuse)...

Re: Can 70s Tabs Make A Come Back?

Hate to say it but a lot of 90's cans are far rarer than most 70's cans, and these 90's cans are starting to see some serious prices. I have seen several 90's cans on eBay go for 3 figures lately (Hamm's collectors are crazy!) and the aluminum USA-brewed 90's export can market is red-hot right now. ...

I think that is a Minnesota can because of the type of tab and the word strong. It is one of the first stay tabs made. Not sure of the date this historical brewery set was released though. I just bought a Pabst lidded with one of the flat top lids from this historical brewers set. Guessing this one ...

Personally not a big fan of leaving rust on my cans. I personally think it can be a part of rust removal/conservation process of the can to remove it. I have actually buffed cans and then put acid on the buffed areas to give them a more natural patina than a high silver gloss. I have actually got pr...

I also have an earlier National SS with a flat top but the lid has like a nipple where the tab should have been made. This one has absolutely nothing as photo shows. It all depends on what step the lid got to in the process before placement on the can. Blanks are initial blanks. Nipple is step 2. e...

I agree they are cool.... I have several for the brands I collect. If it had an Oregon refund statement on the top it would be a purposefully produced aluminum can with a soft top. Those are hard to come buy.
