Re: Perone Quart!
$51,500 hammer - I thought it would go higher. Kinda feel like it should have gone higher. By comparison, it makes many other high climbers seem insane - a far superior can to others in this price strata.

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
The Oertels crown came with the ice block piece as a bonus gift. It's unused. The Hoosier is a little tarnished. The window for getting a better one seems closed at the moment.

Old Fehr's Post. https://www.therustybunch.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=402617&hilit=FEHR%27S+DRAFT#p402617 Good info here, thanks. Not sure I recall reading this - but again, I think the only other time I saw the can, it was a pull tab version, and I wasn't terribly interested. I missed the disc...

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
Oh, and I also picked up this can which is outside of my current collecting parameters. I had one for many years, and always regretted selling it. I thought I would have a hard time replacing it in today's auction-centric market, but here's a nice one from Canvention. I paid about 1/8 of what ...

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
Also, this may have been the one I saw years ago... my memory is fuzzy on this can. If it has a tab top, that may be why I did not go for it at the time.
It's also possible that I'm imagining the whole thing, but it rings a distant bell.

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
Thanks for posting that! I'll assume this is the nicer one I heard about. Is it a flat top? It looks like a possible new top in the pics, or a tab or aluminum top.

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
On the Fehr's can - there are 4 Cincinnati cans listed as pull tabs in the book, but this design is different from any of them. It's also different from any of the USBC flat tops. It's the only Fehr's can that states DRAFT BREWED BEER. The other flat and pull top cans state DRAUGHT BEER. Here is a p...

Re: Canvention Pick-ups
I also picked up this oddball Fehr's - I think I've seen it once before. Frank Fehr Brewing Cincinnati. This can looks like it lay full for a few decades in an attic or crawl space. Looks to be an original flat top with the beer leaking out over time. Also grabbed an Oertels ice block ad piece. The ...

Canvention Pick-ups
Canvention had more good cans available than I expected. A pretty decent showing overall. I was happy to finally add the Drewrys Malt Liquor cans to my collection. I also picked up a very clean Oertels 92 flat - (second picture, can on the left). I took it home thinking it an upgrade, but happily it...

Boy, I had some memorable visits to his house. I always enjoyed talking to him, and got a few great cans from him over the years. Was really eye opening when he landed those big Burgers some years back. I was so impressed.

Re: Small finds when we were new collectors
These cans were found circa 1975 in Union Station in downtown Indianapolis. My grandfather used to work there. It was closed to the public at the time, but he was able to talk a maintenance guy into retrieving some cans for us from somewhere inside the building. I have a feeling it was full of cans,...

Re: The Good Guys June 25th Auction Is Now Open
Well, I couldn't be happier with this acquisition. To my mind, one of the better crowntainers to appear in any recent auction. I really didn't think I had a shot at it. This seems a very unlikely can for me to reel in given the current skewed/hyperventilating/overheated/irrational/choose your adject...

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEER CAN! SHOW YOUR FAVORITES
Four favorite Indiana cones. The Schmidt's, while fairly common, is the Clay Tichelar can, and about the best I've seen. I'm looking to add the occasional clean Indiana cone top. If you have one to sell, shoot me a pic.

Re: Autocrat can from 10/16 Morean auction
I don't know about the auction can, but an Autocrat in similar condition was brought to the Cabin Fever show in 2014. It too looked like a crawl space can. It can be seen in the galleries section of the Beer Cans Plus site. I think it could have been had for 5k if I remember correctly?

I would say Good Luck trying to find significant crowntainers at shows in the current environment. Outside of the initial tier of relatively easy ones, they are not available. But Wow on the photo! I'm guessing that to be the decades old Helmbold haul? :smt007 And if anyone wants to sell a tough cro...

Re: Most expensive 6-pack
This is a great example of what's wrong with the market the past year or so. Three years ago, the first two were each worth at least twice as much as any of the other four. Call me old-fashioned, but I look at that group and see maybe $85K. Marc 85k is exactly the amount I came up with - exactly! I...

Re: Morean Auction 8-28-2022
Wasn't the Fox DeLuxe can found in quantity in recent years? Isn't that the can Dan Baker had in totes for years? It took a long time to sell them in the 2k range. Or am I wrong about this? Mine is better than the auction can, has the original bottom, still carries the BCP $1,800 price tag and was ...

Re: Morean Auction 8-28-2022
I managed to be the underbidder on a can; that's a moral victory in this day and age . . . Me too. Underbidder on Berghoff Ale. I refused to go any higher. Bid more than I thought it was worth. Shouldn't have participated in hindsight. I've had the can twice before. I shouldn't have participated! -...
