This conversation seems to be pretty backwards looking, however if we're honest, I think most will agree that there are some pretty hideous cans being produced now by the smaller, newer, microbrew-ish type folk. My personal least favorite is probably Fistmas

Re: Hole Repairs, Does It Make a Can More or Less Desirable?
I come down on "the can is only original once" position, and is most valuable in that state......at least to me. The one exception I can think of, is when the can is so fragile, stabilizing it with an internal can or other hole type repairs is an improvement.

Re: What Would You Do?
Two things: 1) Be careful with the "pack it tight" suggestions. Once, Viggie sent me a fairly fragile can, that in most circumstances would have survived the trip, however to make doubly sure it did, he wrapped it tightly with those air filled tubes/pillows you see in your amazon boxes oft...

dude! Even during my OI days, I always had fall back collections.....just find something else that tickles you! One of my bathrooms is pink, so I started a tiny collection of pink cans......also always had a fascination with "6 for $xx" cans with the price painted onto the can....very odd....

Hey Rand didn't see the 1969 Anderson book where they coined "Breweriana" will keep looking for books. is the criteria that it needs to talk about cans (and/or?) breweriana? Not just brewery histories, or segments of breweriana (bottles, mini's, labels, The Worlds Greatest Can'ts in 3 vol...

Re: Auction prices leading to rethinking the collection
This auction escalation has been going on for a while, and seeing it, is one of the reasons I dumped my OI collection. May have missed out on the sky high nose bleed prices, but I definitely wanted to get out while the getting was good. Never considered your approach though.....kinda the "one f...

Welcome. I recommend a couple of things: First, read as many threads as you can stand. It is a great education. There are thousands of threads, so don't get overwhelmed. Second, go and find the United States Beer Cans, vol. 1 and vol. 2. I would say start with vol. 2 which is the tab book. You can ...

Would love to know myself. I've not collected it as a "beer can't" because I believe it doesn't simulate an actual beer can. If this were ever sold as a beer can, would really like to hear about it!

Not sure what the Schlitz wooden can is, it’s bolted together but doesn’t come apart?!? Calling it a paperweight. It’s very well done and parts are hand painted. You already have a Hamms’ from my boatload of beer bobbers! I do have a vintage BigBud, keeping it though- Thanks! Yea, that Schlitz thin...

Slowly putting cans in the can room. The garage is full of tabs. Ziphippie I spy with my beer can't eye, a Schlitz item on your desk, bigger than a normal can with a seam running across the top right to left. What is that? Also notice you have some fishing based beer can't stuff sitting on top of a...

Re: Will there be a new valuation?
That said, this has the feel of a bubble. Most of us are at or approaching 60 with very few younger guys coming along behind. Supply and demand suggests there will be a lot more sellers than buyers at some point. I think this is the primary point of view one should lean on. While all these high 4 a...

OK.... allow me a contrarian point of view. While I may agree that provenance to a specific collector has little value ....provenance to the books, I think does carry a premium. During my OI fever, I specifically sought out the book cans and was known to "pay up" for them if I found them. ...

Yea.....not really.....what's proposed is a report on annual gross inflows and outflows with the exception of accounts below a low de minimis gross flow threshold of $600 or fair market value of $600. So, no, not every $600 transaction is being proposed to be tracked.....but gross annual totals.

These cans are being used to make cars.....here are some other pictures at further steps down the production line. Any chance these are candidates for a rubout? Would be cool to get one of these cars and see if you can reveal the can underneath! :-)

I don't know the consensus either......but I have my opinion....it's faded. There are enough partially yellow/partially white examples around to have convinced me.Rusty Jonesin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 5:47 pm Lilek believes 757 is discolored white from being in the ground, I don't know what the consensus is
