2020 NCAA Tournament Challenge - March Madness

Yes, that time of year is soon approaching, where you have a chance to carefully fill out an NCAA Basketball Tourney bracket. After all the research and careful team consideration, it all goes up in flames due to Billy Bob University knocking out Virginia in the first round... Pretty much same...

Re: Detroit North Star metallic gold variation

I thought they were all enamel, and only difference in the two pictured on my website is very small canning code difference. I do seem to remember a list somewhere (maybe it was Kevin Foley's) that mentioned enamel vs metallic, but I never saw the metallic version when I was taking photos. Nice find.

Trying to narrow down some dates for taller 12oz cans. We were thinking it was 1978 when Schlitz Light and Stroh's extruded steel cans were referenced as brand changes in the BCCA magazine. @Randy Karasek Randy was hoping you could help..... Here is some info from the BCCA magazines. Seems like Coo...

Amazing variety. There are some great guys on the East Coast that would help you dig, help you with cleaning cans or offer cleaning advice, or just visit and b.s. about the hobby and share with you true value. Welcome again to the Rusty Bunch and impressive find, thanks for sharing.

Sad News - Gene DiCicco has passed

Posted by Ed S on Facebook:

Sad news... I heard from the BCCA that Gene DiCicco has passed. Condolences and prayers to his family. We lost another GREAT one. That's Gene - lower right, at the 2016 Portland CANvention.

Bumping this topic for 2019 November 2014 we released a "Rusty Bunch Yearbook - 30 Years". A collection of names/faces/info about members, and sadly some RB members who had since passed. I had planned a 2017 update for Spring Thaw, but with moving across country, schedule was crazy. And now couple y...

My opinion some of the crowntainers a bit bland, but that design and the Chief are killer, and would gladly put on shelf. Congrats on your upgrade, very, very nice.

Looking for updated BMV content

It has been way too long since I have produced a new version/content of the BMV (Beer Magazine Viewer). Looks like last I have processed is spring of 2017, missing the remainder of 2017, 2018, and now all of 2019. Over the Christmas holidays I hope to bring everything up-to-date through end of 2019....

Re: Flat sheets currently on eBay

I wonder if there are photos of the total haul saved before the brewery was demolished. Long before cell phones and certain in the excitement of saving things, a camera was not a priority. At one time many breweries likely had items like this in an office but long ago discarded. Chatting with Ed Str...

Re: Flat sheets currently on eBay

Before the Maier brewery was torn down, couple collectors supposedly paid demo foreman chance to go through brewery and take any "scrap". There was a filing cabinet of proofs and many unrolled flat sheets saved from dump. That is where the rolled red Soul 12oz Malt Liquors come from (believe there w...

This type of info is why I fought the BCCA for years to share non-BCCA publications with the collecting community, instead of locked in some basement. The following is from Brewery Collectibles (Jeff Cameron publication) 1982, Dec/Jan. Pictured are two rare, possibly unique Iron City cans. The first...

I only have the pictured five. From BMV search, these were announced in BCCA mag November 1974. This was just before BCCA started including photos of the new cans. Also, as the article mentions, six will be produced, with several cans coming later. Maybe Washington Headquarters never got produced? ....
