I'm with Mike on this. I will say there's not much outdoor signage I've seen for Century. Cool sign!

And bullet holes to boot. That's authentic "Western Style". Very cool.

My guess is a .22.

Add 2 sided Coors to the corrugated tab list. After seeing the lid that has no indentation for the ring, the one example of the Coors had the tab. Pics of the can are in the Colorado composite forum.

The scotch brite will help for sure. A good hint is to do it in one direction, not a circular motion. Start off with light pressure so as not to put scratches into the aluminum. You just want to dull the shine.

Re: Aluminum tops, cleaning/polishing

The aluminum lids are different to clean up than the rest of the can. Oxalic acid can do strange things to them if left to soak too long or is too strong. I use Ex Rust for heavier rust on those lids since it works only on the rust. If there's no rust, Simple Green works really well. Polishing isn't...

I'm glad you got that can Wiley. When Mike walked up with it, all you could see was a spot of the blue the size of a pencil eraser by the seam. He was grinning ear to ear knowing we were in the right place to find more.

Not bad for a guy that was 75 when we dug those. I wish I had a pic of the 96 pre war Coors he found in Leadville. Most of which were the "Thoroly Aged" variety.

Ed is spot on about Mike. He loved to trade. Didn't see his collection as dollar signs. One of the first guys I knew that would downgrade when he dug something for his shelf.

Starting to bug me

With all the interest lately regarding zips, it got me to thinking why there isn't a Tivoli Bock zip. There are 3 Tivoli labels that transitioned through the flat to super soft to tab era. Two of the three have a zip top version. What is missing is the Tivoli Bock. As you can see, after the super so...

Re: How tough is a Coors. Straight steel fan tab?

The JMC can code stands for Jeffco Mfg. Corp. The 12 oz. Coors steel tabs have this can code and no other. For more info, go to the CO composite thread. I posted a reply from Coors regarding this company. Fascinating reading.

Re: How tough is a Coors. Straight steel fan tab?

There are 4 different tab lids for the steel 12oz. Don't know if there's one tougher than the other, but a few years ago Brad Flinders found a 6 pack in TX on his way to the Albuquerque show. Sold them for $50 apiece, clean.

I've been told the 12oz. steel Coors were only marketed in west Texas. The 15oz. Coors were sold everywhere.

Hard to come by in clean condition. Off grade tough but not impossible. Be sure the can code is JMC. The Mile Hi chapter had an off grade one a few weeks ago for the chili cook off, it was the grand prize in the raffle.

Re: Baseline Zip Top Composite List.......

Personally, I think a verified column is a good idea. Case in point, on the Colorado composite discussion thread, a pic of a Denver zip top (not U-Tab) is shown. It's a rolled can from a proof sheet ( per Dave Tanner) that had a later generation zip lid rolled on. Never was a marketed can. I will no...

Re: Baseline Zip Top Composite List.......

I got the chance to go through the zips of Colorado and compare the CO composite to what the USBC tab book lists. There are some discrepancies between the two. The original composite list was done by the late Walter Herget. He was the first collector to scrutinize his Colorado cans and start a compo...
