Re: Morean Auction - March 17th

Looked at some of the prices. One screaming bargain that stood out to me was the white Holland Ale. You never see that can for sale, but it is not visually appealing, it's a 50's can, and it's not from a state where any can sells for 5-10X what you'd think it would.

RIP Dave Lang

I just received word that Dave Lang has passed away. I am heartbroken over this. Dave was the best friend a collector could have. A giant in the hobby, especially with respect to dumping. I greatly enjoyed being a beertender with him at various shows, and even roomed with him a couple of times. I am...

Re: Cans Known As Zip Tabs Only

The Home Ale listing in the book is incorrect. It is my can in the picture, and it is a fan tab. I saw a zip tab for sale at a CANvention, but the collection had a ton of relids so I didn't trust that it was real.

Re: Zip Tab Lid Study

From what I'm told, zip tabs (and all pull tabs during the 3-piece can era for that matter) were shipped from the can company plant to the brewery with the top on the can, and the cans were then filled from the bottom. Especially during the transition, this would have made sense since the aluminum t...

Re: ATTN: ZIP TAB COLLECTORS

Outside of the posturing by the wannabe old guard, I can state with 100% certainty that the Home Ale can is *not* I repeat *not* a zip tab. It is my can that is in USBC, and it is a fan tab. I once saw that can on grade offered for sale as a zip tab, and I strongly believe it is a frankencan. To sup...

Re: Was 4/24/22 the Peak for Can Prices?

I would truly *love* to see more good cans turn up at shows, but my observation has been the exact opposite. Private sales still happen, but it has been a long time since I saw a can at a show that I truly sought, even at a price well above what I'd be willing to pay.

Certainly a wild tournament. Miami in the final 4 despite losing to an awful Georgia Tech team this year. I assume UCONN is the heavy favorite now.

Mark nailed it. The emergence of CFR has meant that a lot of midwest collectors didn't bother coming to Blue-Gray anymore. There was more than a little bad blood between the RB and the Blue-Gray a few years ago as well. Blue-Gray was plagued by a couple years of bad weather. Spring Thaw was always g...

Oh, I'm thrilled to have been able to pick up the vast majority of NJ flats, and even happier that I got almost all of them before the market changed. It is a bit sobering to know that I'll likely never add another major NJ can to my collection, unless I get a "buddy deal" or something. In...

Marc, I saw that can in his totes at I believe at least two CANventions. With 20/20 hindsight I should have jumped all over it... The Krueger Bock LO seemed like a decent price, at least compared to the last one that sold. Heck, I was going to bid when it seemed to pause around 10K for a bit. $16.5 ...
