Re: On-grade Key Cream soda - pre-zip

I’ve got a good pic of the orange, but could use a better pic of the root beer if you could post it? Wonder who has the ongrade cola, ginger ale and grape?
Thx!

On-grade Key Cream soda - pre-zip

Here's a really tough New York grocery (Key Food Stores - Brooklyn, NY) pre-zip brand. Only a handful of on-grade examples across all flavors. This is the first cream!

Re: Estate planning question

Nice! There are a few cans that I can see that kind of connection with. It must have taken you some time to find peace with the decision to let such an amazing collection go.

Re: Estate planning question

Thanks for the thoughts - makes a lot of sense! I sold my first soda collection in 2003 and really enjoyed the new hunt. Guess I have to wrap my head around the idea of looking at this differently. Might have to keep a couple cans though...

Estate planning question

Ok, this is maybe a little diversion from the usual can postings, but my household is currently in estate planning mode and my significant other has no interest in "the cans"... My collection is soda, but it is pretty extensive. Has anyone considered leaving your collection with instructions to brin...

Re: Faygo Collector on Detroit News Station

Hi Leon,
Thanks for sharing that. Really interesting back story! I’m a little surprised at how little it sold for given the history of what’s been available.

Re: Faygo Collector on Detroit News Station

Follow up on the Faygo 1st generation cans. Outside of Leon's find of the seven BC in this post, there only appear to be a very limited additional examples. The rootbeer was identified in the Bates book, but not pictured. It was originally owned by Kevin Garrity of Ft. Worth, TX. The BC pictured in ...

That was the same same lot. There were initials at the top of the other side and there was a decent Mission 10.

Just obtained these four - exceptionally clean from an old collection! The cola hadn't been found in the regular generation yet. Something new to look for!

I'm interested - can you message me with what your asking for it? Thx, Dave T I found an interesting variation of this early Belfast Orange soda can from the mid 1950's. They could have been paper label break fluid cans with the paper removed. There have been beer cans like this, but I thought they were usually older. I remember a few of these, along with one or two other brands appearing on Ebay in the late 90's or early 2000's. Didn't pay much attention to them or...

Re: Odd Cones

These are pull tabs that had cones added. Soda cones were also never made with screw tops - the carbonation wouldn't last. The presence of zip codes is the clincher - these are D540-1 with the bottoms cut down to get the right height for a cone top. If these don't have zip codes (D540-0), then someo...
