Re: ROSALIE on ebay

The Rosalie label I have says brewed and bottled by Manhattan Brewing Company (in additional to the Church Point info). Sorry for the fuzzy picture.

I love the slogan "FULLY (AGED) SLOWLY". Guess that is better than "PARTIALLY (AGED) QUICKLY"

I know there are lots of variations of this can, but Canadian Ace versions are tough sleepers.

Re: Canadian Ace Brewery Fire

Dan - the docs range from 1933 to 1936 from what I can tell. Some also have water damage, but that could have happened from leaks or other issues after the brewery went idle.

Canadian Ace Brewery Fire

Found the fire pic on http://www.firescenes.net/?tag=historic-fire-scene-photos&paged=3 Oh the humanity - can you image what may have got toasted? Many of the files I have from Manhattan are burnt along the edges, so maybe from this fire? I always thought the burns on the docs may have been from van...

Re: Black Dallases

The St. Louis and Chicago Black Dallas cans are a bit of an enigma. Manhattan felt highly enough of the Black Dallas branding since they changed the St. Louis ABC version into Chicago/Manhattan. Not sure if they sold the Chicago versions in Texas where the St. Louis cans were found. As I understand ...

Awesome. The Chicago in the middle is one of my favorite cans since it is 2 cans in one (St. Louis one on left underneath)

Great pix Dan. The "STATE-CONGRESS MEANS WEAR" sign definitely suggests downtown Chicago at State Street and Congress Parkway, a likely parade route.

Re: Tin Old Manhattan Sign

The signage does go real well with the cans and bottles :) John - the sign did clean up some. I gave it a short bath in oxalic acid. Thanks again to Kevin and yourself! This sign is apparently #7 in the series. The longer rectangular one is marked MBC-1, the one behind the bar MBC-2, and this new on...

Cool bottle Ron! Not sure if I posted this one before, but it would be cool if it also came canned!

Not sure why the pic is left, when you click it is oriented correctly

Tin Old Manhattan Sign

Got the cute little Old Manhattan signed from Kevin Kottemann. It now joins its 2 older brothers. Thanks Kevin and John (who helped broker the deal)!

Re: Best's Hapsburg variation on ebay

Hey Bob - I almost spit my beer out with surprise when I saw this one on ebay. I kinda thought the cat was out of the bag when the price went up from about $50 to $150 with a day or so to go. Agree ending at $661 does show a lot of respect. I would not have been surprised to see it go higher given t...

Re: Old Manhattan Beer Neon Sign

Love these neons with the art deco look. By my experience, the prices trend towards the lower side of what has been suggested on this thread. If you are patient, you can probably get one without over paying. Like Dan B said, the original signs were two faced with a nose piece (see pic, next to TV in...

As if there was ever any doubt, regarding English Lad 12oz flat, "Westminster Brewing Company lithographed on the cans, even though the can are actually packed for Westminster by the Manhattan Brewing Company" (third paragraph last sentence).

Falstaff IRTP Flat

Does a Falstaff IRTP flat exist? As I recall all of the ones I have seen appear to be drinking cans with new tops, and these cans appear to be identical to a cone version which suggests the drinking cans were made from cone sheets. The pic below came from auction below. This sign clearly shows an IR...

Re: Gr 2 St Louis Black Dallas OI ?

I paid $1100 for this one a few years back on ebay. It is the St Louis can (literally) with the black paint over the St Louis ABC stuff replaced with Chicago Manhattan. Has new lids, but color on this one pops.

Agree on grade 2. Fuzzy pics don't help (need to take can wrap off), red did not pop, so agree also on fade on front. Need pic of OI panel and bottom and accept returns for that price. I would second chance offer high/runner up bidder.
