Re: Ya I know, another unlisted can ?

Have not seen that version before. For the Supplement, we have made the determination that we do not add a can if the only difference is a canning company logo or MPC. The same thing goes for lid and seam variations. To do so would make the already gargantuan effort suicidal. Jim Wolf has done a goo...

$750 for the scanner. That’s a little steep. Great idea though.

Re: Colt 45 16oz Miami Variations.....

Yes, this is always difficult to notice unless you have the 2 cans side-by-side. It is even harder to see the differences in images. Jim has started using the convention that there is metallic (mirror reflecting), dull (brushed metallic) and enamel (opaque). Also, with the National Brewing Company (...

BTW, Jim Wolf is updating the digital composite for the small cans this month. He has added several, so that your “side” collection can take up more space.

As for what the Mummer’s Parade is, I would google it. My understanding is that it happens on New Years Day and the “acts” are primarily a bunch of people garishly dressed. I think there are groups that have been doung this for years. I lived near Philly for 15 years, but never went.

Please note that the pictures in the digital supplement have colors that are closer to the original as well. The reds and blues are less dark.

Re: Status of USBC Supplemental Updates.......An incredible effort

A couple of additional notes: - Most of the flats, cones and quarts are updated. There are quite a few new cans added. As we now have back panel images, I think we will find a large number of additional cans that have variances that were not apparent with the original single image. Should you find t...

We photographed the red letter Dawson at the Cleveland Canvention for the digital book. The gentleman that had it said that there were only a few known and that the one photographed was second best. I had never seen one before that.

Great find. A number of nice additional cans as well.

Thanx.

Re: Odd Painted Seam

It looks like a traditional design. I am guessing that the canning company changed the seam from the standard wide seam to the glued seam and the redesign of the label had not been completed so they just filled the area with white paint. Alternatively, the can may have been painted all white as the ...

Re: What's With all the tough tabs

While rare flats and cones are largely tied up in collections and are fully valued when they come to market, tabs may be perceived as more attainable. As there are sooooo many tabs, trying to get the rarest 100 may be doable when the same in flats and cones may not. Also, it is a lot cheaper to get ...

Re: Any statistics experts out there?

As it has been 40 years since my last stats class, I cannot easily help you. However, my experience in the real world has taught me that samples are seldom random. For instance, it is clear that not all cans were created in the same quantity. That would mean that you may have essentially all of the ...

There are no plans to list lid variations in either volume of USBC. We have included a comments section where I have suggested we include notes about lid variations and canning codes. So far, that seems to be beyond scope.

Re: Unknown? Unlisted? or just a Schlitz...

There are quite a number of Schlitz Beer and ML that are not in volume II. Several 16 oz. cans have been added, but there are more to be added as well. I think there was brand fatigue when they put together the original book. Given the list of the last 50 or so unphotographed 16 oz. cans are made up...

Re: 14, 15 and 16oz cans needed for USBC II Supplement

While the 14-15-16 oz. cans are almost complete, the 10-11-12 cans are barely started with less than 15% complete. Once we get over 90%, we will provide a list of the needed cans. Flat tops are over 80% and most of those remaining are truly rare. Also, if any of you have cans not captured in the sup...

Re: Want list for Supplement pictures

Jim Wolf will be publishing the list of 14-15-16 oz. tab tops not in the supplement later this week. He added a number of photographs at the show this weekend. With those additions, we are down to 50-60 unphotographed cans. Most of the missing cans are uncommon variations of common brands such as Sc...
