That tudor is cool! Psychadelic, man.

Nice old dutch. always fun finding those.

I know what the crown is, but I'm not allowed to guess, I guess ;-)

I want to post a pic or two but lost the charger to my phone so may have to "settle" for the camera phone.

Standard Upstate Fare

Digger and I spent a couple days in upstate NY recently. Fun times camping, great weather a terrific breakfast and best of all good times. First day found a dump at pretty much every spot. Second day only one dump that digger had a blast digging. Here is one picture of cleaned cans. I got many upgra...

Re: Bock beer

MIke, that is last springs version. The "new" stuff will come out around February. Still good though. Try the genesee bock. It's quite different than Yuengling. Both are I good but different. Genny is cheaper but just as good. I buy a bunch of cases of it in the spring and then use it all ...

yet more cleaned cans

Finally getting to the bottom of the barrels on previous dump trips. Nothing really interesting left, except for some mystery crowntainers most of which are turning out to be Schmidt's as expected, with just enough silver stock like the one pictured to keep soaking. Couple of upgrades in this bunch ...

Re: Some cleaned low pros and OI's

Conehead, It was fun! You can read about it in the issue of rustlings a few issues back. I distinctly remember uncovering all the red natties and saying "some of these could be old bohs" Minck, Wondered the same thing. Did they run concurrently or did they discontinue the old bohs and rele...

Re: The Professor Says.....

Digger it never ceases to amaze me that you are still pulling good cans close to home. Love that yellow bartels. Well, all bartels really. Got me wondering why/how that black label came home and got an acid bath? Did you think it might have been a bock or something?

Non can finds

Found these on two different trips. The Ballantine is plastic, not sure what it is or why it was in a private dump. The tray was a surprise, found in PA and very clean out of the ground, but unfortunately no Iroquois cans. did find an Iroquois crowntainer on a subsequent trip though. Also found a ve...

Nothing special, but some cleaned finds from the last year. The old mil is a softtop. The cone had us puzzled. Dwight thought maybe Brandts and I thought maybe Gretz turns out it is a Booths soda.

more cleaned cans

Nothing major here, but cleaned more cans from dumping trips of yore, going way back a year or more on some of these. Most of these were upgrades, some were new finds, all were loads of fun to find and to clean. There's almost enough room to walk into the shed now, as I must have cleaned and thrown ...

Yep, a couple better ones coming up from both Digger and I. The trip home bore a bit of a hole in mine :-( but otherwise should clean up well. Digger got a nice one too.

Some cleaned cans

Been way behind cleaning cans, all the way back into last year. Cleaned a bunch this week, lots of mysteries that ended up in the trash, including kaiers quart, gibbons quart and a few stegmaier quarts, Ballantine big punchers, neuweilers, NYC flats, etc. Here are some of the keepers on recent trips...

Re: 1973 cans

That's my guess, that it was the jam from the soundcheck, although it sounded to me like they were flirting with eyes of the world, like they were going to go into it or come out of it. Or it could have been the long jamming vehicle from the show proper, which i believe was the other one. Hesitated ...

Spring training dumping

Got out with Digger a couple weeks ago for a little spring training dumping, some of the ground was still frozen and lakes were still iced over. We did what we could in some pretty barren areas of NE PA and southern NY, not finding a whole lot of cans but coming home with some nonetheless. Still we ...

Re: top opened versus bottom opened

Agree with JAL, never did get the whole bottom opened thing. I'd like to know who is the guy who started the whole bottom opened thing in the first place. If anything, you could argue that openeing it from the bottom is compromising the condition of the can, putting something in it that shouldnt be ...

Re: Esslinger's Recipes

Wheaton-- Welsh Rarebit is generally served on toast. I have 2 excellent bakeries near me and both make really good bread for the welsh rarebit, either toasted or untoasted (absorbs more). I used to drink esslingers in the 80's and 90's. It was brewed by the Lion and quite cheap but good for the pri...

Re: Esslinger's Recipes

Wheaton, Thanks for posting this! Just last week I was looking for a picture of that egg beer recipe. I'm going to try it, maybe this weekend, although I'll have to substitute another old PA regional in for esslinger, i havent had esslinger in about 10 years. I've made the welsh rarebit and it is pr...

Re: Brown Derby Queen City Brewing Company, Cumberland, MD

I would imagine. Generally contract brewing is that you can have a beer brewed to spec which costs more, or you can use what's already brewed, which is cheaper. So it depends on how much they sold and how much control they wanted over it. My guess is being a supermarket brand they were looking at th...

Ah, so you guys leaving your empties in stadiums are what alerted the authorities to the "problem" and resulting in patting down and searches, huh? Thanks!

But seriously, good job of thinking outside the box with dumping, an interesting story with pictures, thanks for sharing.
