Re: Unknown Unpictured cone top?

The can comes both flat boom and concave bottom. Each has a canning code of 4-11-B so it makes sense that when they stopped using the flat bottom, they finished up what they had with concave bottoms. There was a big find of the flat bottoms at some point - usually in 2+ shape - and they are readily ...

Re: Was Canadian Ace Sold in New England??

Curious I think that the "Beer" comes IRTP in a cone (rare, yes, but it exists) but only Non-IRTP in a flat. Then at the same time the "Ale" comes IRTP in a flat (rare, yes, but it exists), but only Non-IRTP in a cone. Does this makes any sense? Matt

Re: A Very Good Day!!

Can was featured decades ago in the BCCA magazine. Later Lewandowskis contacted the owner who sent it to them. Later I got it from Lewandowskis. I sold it on eBay to Rand. He sold it recently in his auction. The buyer in the auction then turned around and resold it right away. That's the history of ...

Re: Look's like we missed a rare can here

I thought about it. It's from the same find as all of the other cans that have the heavy humidity. That one has a bit more gold on it than most of the rest so it was a toss up whether to grab it and then move the downgrade. I let it pass. Matt

The alcohol statement is the neat thing on that can. There are plenty of flat bottom Schlitz cones, but not many with that particular alcohol statement. Matt

Maier Select

Rawley, it will be interesting to see how you do on this can. The rare "yellow" version! Last week an all painted can did quite well, so who knows? I am presuming this is an old Wolpe can? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Maier-Select-Cone-top-Only-6-Known-Maier-Brewing-Los-Angeles-Touched-Up-RARE/362452650...

I like this thread. I've often thought of maybe adding "matching flats" to my cone collection, but thus far have not done so. I'm a little afraid that could create some space issues. Matt

Re: O Canada

The comments above about the beer cones are spot on. YOu can over time assemble all of the Canadian cones except the ones that are mentioned above. Also good to collect is the soda cones - lots of soda cones from Canada and that is a set that you can complete, except for the Brio from Pure Springs. ...

Previously Unknown Cooks Cone Transition Can

Always exciting when Art LaComb says to me at Canvention "you are not going to believe this cone I have". So Art says to me that he has a Cooks cone that looks like none of the known cans. I'm having a hard time with that, but sure enough upon inspection we do indeed have a previously unknown can he...

Re: What database do you use for your collection?

Recommendation: Put your spreadsheet on Google, and then make sure that you share it with one or more family members and another can guy that you trust. That way if you should die, others will understand what you have so they can properly take care of things. Also, once it's on Google, you cannot po...

Some more perspective for this thread - last July I reached 200 soda cones. Last week - finally - the number became 201. Not from a lack of trying and looking for sure! They are just tough to find. Matt

Wielands was probably one of the worst cans to send to a super hot and humid environment. No way that they would have survived very long. Matt
