Re: tough variation: Royal Bohemian cone top

Ah, Neil is correct. Those two non-IRTP variations are very tough. That's the first one I've seen. However - there is also an IRTP variation, and I do have that one. Enjoy. Matt

Carlings WF Cone

Many years ago (20+) I had the Carlings WF cone that is pictured at 156/25 - Probably the worst photo in the book. When I sold my old collection I returned that can to whoever had found it to start with. Now two decades later - look what now shows up, fresh from Japan! I'm pretty sure that makes two...

Re: Tough Hi Pro cones with USBC <$1000+ value

It's my old can, and yes it is the same can that is in the book. I always thought it was probably real, but over the years while I had the can the views of those who looked at it were 50/50. I don't recall the canning code, but it was the same as the flat, which didn't help its chances. The first ti...

Re: Tough Hi Pro cones with USBC <$1000+ value

Regarding the Burger Ale cone that was mentioned earlier in the thread - I sold the only one known about 15 years ago from my old collection (I think that it had come from Lewandowskis earlier)_. There was considerable debate as to whether the can was a real cone or not. Never could get consensus. S...

Re: And you thought you had the most valuable Pabst can....prepare to be humbled....I guess....

The autographs thing is a bunch of BS in my view. Lots of people trying to make a fast buck on something that is not real easy to really nail down a value on. A few years ago, I went to a sports dinner in St. Louis. They were trying to auction a ball signed by some hall of famers for some ridiculous...

Re: Ebay selling question

When you send your invoice to the buyer, eBay has a function where you can adjust the shipping so that the default shipping for each can can be changed to a combined price. Thus, you can put in your auction something like how all cans ship for x dollars, regardless of the size of the box, or whateve...

Does It Exist? Blue 'n Gold Cone

I have Blue 'n Gold cone 153.30 that comes CCC 32A. Fine. I've had on my list forever that there were other possibilities, but I've never seen anything else. Can anybody actually confirm any other variation? Matt

Brewers Best Cone

Here is something for you to chew on. Thought I would finally share this one with you. Here is what I can tell you. Can is rolled with an inserted seam. Can is identical to the Brewers Best flat at 42/3 in the book, except that the flat is metallic and this is enamel. Beer Cans Plus had the flat pic...

Jim, which ones can you confirm that I don't have, other than the olive drab? If you can't confirm some at this point, I'm pretty sure that they don't exist because we've been looking for them forever - they surely would have shown up by now. But maybe somebody reading this has one??? Matt

This is an excellent question. For what it's worth, here is my summary (credit to Conehead for much of this). I am missing numbers 4, 6, 7, 11, 13, 18, 19 and 21. I have some serious doubts as to whether some of those variations actually exist. Comments??? 1 Utica Club Sparkling Ale 187/30 German Te...

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday

I think that the slight color difference may be due to the fact that the high profile can had two runs, one with a straight seam and one with a tooth seam. Both are CCC-22.

Re: The Dells- antique mall revisited

I'm pretty sure that Salute is not the real deal. The "six lines" version is the older can. The can in the photo is a later in time "four lines" version. It would not make any sense for a variation of the later in time "four lines" version to be a flat bottom. Also the cone and bottom lid just look ...

Re: Golden Rod WF from Egypt!

American troops were in West Africa. However, a few liaison officers were probably in Egypt to coordinate with the British. Best guess is that that is the sort of person who would be in a position to get the can, and then keep it for the rest of the war and bring it home. Matt

The Walters and the Kochs Deer Run are in a league of their own compared to the others. The others are easily assembled and are what virtually everyone has who bothers to collect gallons. Over the years I've found the common ones to make great table lamp stands. Matt

Re: WHAT WAS THE FIRST CAN IN YOUR COLLECTION?

The one I remember was the gold bud flat top with the bottle on the side. Some kid in the neighborhood had a six pack of them from his grandparents' basement, and I traded him a Fyfe and Drum for it. That's the first can that I remember. Matt

The total number of soda cones is a bit higher than that. I think it is more like 275. I've been stuck right on 200 for a long time. Not even a sniff at anything new for a while. I know that there are at least two collections out there that are in the 225-230 range. I've been told - by the guy that ...

In my notes, I have that 189-26 is "bright gold", and 189-27 is "dull gold" - and that there are three "dull gold" canning company variations (CCC; CCC-48; and CCC-72). The only can I actually have is the dull gold CCC. Matt
