Re: dumping in North Texas

Hi guys, I have been to all or most of these dumps and would be happy to be a tour guide. I also recommend the famous Corky's dump near Lufkin that I could revisit. Guaranteed you will find cans there. Unfortunately, the owner charges $100 per day for us to dump there (that was 10-15 years ago, with...

I agree with your assessment. It's funny to me that they ended up in Church Point with the grandson of the man who ordered Rosalie from Manhattan.

Rosalie Printed Stickers-This Morning's Major Coronary Event

What would you think if somebody sends you a facebook messenger message with this photograph? rosalie vinyl sitcker.jpeg What would you think if the person who sent it to you is the grandson of the owner of Church Point Wholesale from the 1920s through 1960s? I thought he had found a set of unrolled...

I have lost more magnets (2) than I have found cans (0) so far. Found some other stuff that was interesting-- like lots of fishing gear-- but not a single can.

Was ACCo Complicit in Manhattan Shenanigans?

I've been thinking about this for a while and wanted to get the thoughts of the experts here. When Manhattan Brewing Co. put false brewery info on their cans, American Can Company had to be aware of it. For instance, when Manhattan said "List Food City Brewing Company as the Mandatory on that O...

Re: Interesting Film from WW2 with Cans

I got a nice response from the Adelphi Lab people on facebook messenger. The person said he doubted the lab had anything to do with the cans, since they didn't really become Adelphi until 1974. Ted Wolfe, that's interesting info. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the film of the Krueger cans was from...

Re: Interesting Film from WW2 with Cans

After doing some research, I found the Adelphi Laboratory in Maryland is part of the Aberdeen Proving Grounds where they do weapons research. I found their facebook page and sent them the pictures of the Adelphi cans and explained that we were trying to find their origins. Maybe I get a response!

Re: Interesting Film from WW2 with Cans

When I have time I will bring the video file into Adobe Premiere and go frame-by-frame to see if I can get any more screen grabs that might show other details. I want to see if I can see anything on the Adelphi cans that might indicate a mandatory or other verbiage.

Interesting Film from WW2 with Cans

One of my jobs in local government is running our government cable channel. We occasionally use filler programming from various military sources. While watching a documentary on the war effort in the Philippines today, I saw some beer cans. I grabbed the video file and found the spot and they are ex...

Re: Any dumping tips for Eastern Texas

The trip was in maybe 2003 or 2004. We had found the location in 2001 or 2002, a massive dumping area on a wet/dry border. Some of our gang got kicked out by the owner at gunpoint a short time after we found it and it took a couple of years of John Williams smooth talking the guy (named Corky) to le...

I wrote the snake article! It was at Corky's near Lufkin. Bill Lindstrom was on that trip and maybe John Williams? I don't think Steve F or Tom I were there. PM me if you want info on places. I might be able to help out.

Church Point Wholesale Warehouse Being Demolished

A sad day for those of us who are still hunting for a Rosalie. The famed Church Point Wholesale Grocery warehouse where the indoor Rosalie Dan Baker sold in the early 2000s was found is being demoed. I have been trying to get inside and underneath that building for years. Last fall I made contact wi...

Thanks everybody! I am fine and so are my beer cans. I rode out the storm at work and it was rough. Tremendous wind damage. Re: Any thoughts on when the Jax "Go Texans" can was produced??

I think many breweries, Jax included, continued to produce cans in flat tops well into the mid 60s for various reasons, even while the majority of their cans were zips or Juice Tops. I found a small dump near Lake Charles that contained both juice tabs and flat top Jax cans right alongside Budweiser...
